Even if it does, the 'History Channel' prefix makes me very sceptical.
It didn't start off called that, I can't remember nor can I be bothered to look up what it originally was but I assume the History Channel saw it and picked it up. Which is probably a bit of a double edged sword, on one side - money, on the other a title that would send most people instantly to sleep.

The game looks good though, it's a bit like Warhammer Squad Commander, Commandos, Pathway to Glory, Jagged Alliance.

    Portable view - Never forget.

Has anyone tried out the DLC for Doritos Crash Course that apparently was released recently? Is it any good?

I was wondering about picking it up, since it was quite fun whenever there was that EG competition on it. Even though I was rather shite at beating other folks amazing times on it.

My kids still play that occasionally. There's something a bit weird about having paid DLC for a free game, though.

:) That's partly why I'm looking to get it, some new courses and I figured our boy was ready to introduce to the delights of decathlon-esque gameplay!

I agree it is odd paying for extras for a 'free' game, but it can't be that much surely. I should maybe check true achievements, that might give an idea on how many extra courses there are.

It adds 10 levels and is only 160msp I think. I bought it but haven't played it.
Edit: There's a free trial as well

Thanks for the info, it's much appreciated.

At 160 MSP I think I can justify that purchase!

Bollocks, I didn't realise they were putting Retro City Rampage up to 1200msp. I tried to buy it at 800 a few days ago and gave up when it repeatedly gave me an error code on pressing "confirm purchase". Really pissed off by that.

I did not know Retro City was a at a promo price either. Might have swung my hand to at least try the demo of it if I knew. Worked with Super Meat Boy.

I don't remember reading anything about that being a special first week price! Balls.

Oh well, it will be in a Deal Of The Week sale in a few months.

I'll never get my Orc looking the same again.

They've been bloody awful at giving out info on releases just recently. That said, I tried RCR and it's really not for me. I get most of the references... but I just don't think it's remotely fun to play.

I don't get a lot of the references so I found the demo very dull. I imagine others will love it though

The more I think about it, the more I realise what truly shitty form this is by Microsoft. I mean, with Super Meat Boy, the fact it was at a promo price on launch was widely reported, which encouraged more people to buy it early. It seems like nobody knew RCR was at a promo price, so it wouldn't have encouraged anybody to buy it quick, and it's stopped people like me from buying it at all, so the game will almost certainly have lost sales as a result- instead of gaining them as Super Meat Boy did.

Baffling and cuntish in equal measure.

I knew I wasn't going mad and it had originally been 800pts.

Well, I tried the demo. Lots of references but not a lot of fun. Really tiny sprites are really annoying to boot.

Driving and shooting are needlessly fiddly, though I didn't give it much time for me to get accustomed to it. Maybe others may be into it, my mate is but he goes mad for kitsch stuff.

Can anyone recommend some good xbla or indie games I can play with the kids? Simultaneous two player would be nice.

    XBLA: Minecraft
    Indie: Little Racers: Street

I'm sure there are plenty of others.

I'm avoiding Minecraft. 11yo has specifically asked for it because all his friends have it. However, I didn't buy him a PS3 so he could get addicted to my xbox :-P

Little street racers might be beyond 5yo, I dunno.

    I need a Wii

Minecraft. Does trials evo have local multiplayer?

The best local multiplayer game for giggles is backbreaker vengeance. I imagine kids would love it

Ilomilo is really, really nice. Might be a bit tricky for younger kids, merely in terms of working out what to do - but the simultaneous (well, same game session, swapping at will) play means you can help them along.

Trials Evo does have local multiplayer, yes. And will generate a good many guffaws. :)

As we mentioned the other day, Crash Course is good fun for kids and is also free. Doesn't have local multiplayer, though.
