    @Gartt
It's a one-day offer, they've tended to change to the next offer around 1-2 in the morning.

They might have extended the Walking Dead offer because Live was playing up for some people yesterday? Not sure if MS are that conscientious though.

Started playing Walking Dead last night and super-impressed so far! It's great, I really should've bought it earlier. :|

VF5: Final Showdown for 600 points? Eh, why not. It's not like I can ever have enough fighting games I'm terrible at and will always be terrible at.

Do it. VF5 is pure class. Shame the customisation packs are not in the sale too though.

I am surprised FEZ is Eurogamer's (staff) Game of the Year ...

... really do think the likes of Mark of the Ninja or Journey on the PlayStation 3 deserves it a little bit more.

Although Microsoft are genuine c u next Tuesdays for asking independent developers to cough up 'tens of thousands' (of dollars) to patch their games, the way Fish kind of handled the situation like a grumpy sod was disheartening.

I have been playing Crazy Taxi today ... it's still really good fun!

I was glad that FEZ got GOTY. It's just such a shame Fish and MS didn't get their shit together with patching the patch as that whole affair has totally tarnished its legacy.
  • Deleted user 30 December 2012 15:39:33
If FEZ was a mainstream game with a similar problem it would be shit on from a great height. It sure as fuck wouldn't be winning any GOTY awards.

But hey-ho indie, 8 bit, hipster, retro cool-cred papers over all cracks in current gaming journalism.

Six of one, half a dozen of the other. First patch was free, ones past that aren't. Or something like that.

Found it slightly 'amusing' that blokey author of Braid backed him up, he of the game which wiped my saves several times because I tried playing it on a console I didn't buy it on, even though I was logged into Live on my own account.

No no no no no no no spuds you've got your moaning all wrong. It's a Xbox 360 exclusive so you're supposed to complain about console-owning, biased, xbot idiots writing for the site. Tsk tsk. Get it right man!

    I totally called it.

The way Fish left Fez in a broken state and tried to blame MS was disgraceful. He basically told customers to go fuck themselves and go play his broken game because he wanted someone else to pay for his mistake

Mark of the ninja was fucking ace. The mechanics were like a Swiss watch.

The only problem I had with Fez is it hard locked the console a couple of times. First time was when you find the cube for the first time and the graphical corruption appears on the screen. I was left there thinking "was that... intentional?"

    No. It wasn't.

But still, no save game bug or anything like that.

    I totally called it.

I've only had framerate problems and the occasional audio problems with Fez. Even after the patch those problems still remain, especially the framerate if you play for more than a couple of hours in one stint. I never had the game crash or lock up on me, although the patch did brick my 209.4% save. But seeing as there was literally nothing left to do but start again, I didn't mind.

The game is truly brilliant and the bitching in the article from the butthurt is amusing to me. Fingers crossed that Fez goes on to win the readers' GOTY too, if only because the hilarious bitching will be monumental.

Far cry 3 or halo 4 for me. Far cry 3 could be because it's freshest in my mind tbh, but I am enjoying it.

Spudsfuckly has become so much of a broken record that he's beginning to copy and paste his comments in the articles and forum.

I'll never get my Orc looking the same again.

    Mainstream games like Skyrim?
  • Deleted user 30 December 2012 16:55:34
Fez is awesome, brilliant pick for GoTY by EG.

Finished Deadlight today & although I enjoyed it miles more than I thought I would I could see why people would dislike it.

Glad I picked it up though in the sale & I'd recommend it if it came up again.

Anyone have an idea roughly how long Limbo takes to complete?

Limbo takes around 4 hours, depending on skill level.

Right, I've gone through the sales bit of the Xbox dash to reach the Skyrim DLC offers, dl/d Dawnguard @800msp, and was about to buy Hearthfire when I realised that the sale price- 400msp - is what was reported as the standard price towards the end of Eurogamer's review. I was going to link to it but the forum's doing that bollocksy "forbidden" thing again, so you'll have to trust me that this quote's from Dan Whitehead's review:

At 400 Microsoft Points, Hearthfire costs about as much as it's worth, and it's definitely a more interesting way of incorporating useful features into the world than simply having you unlock a pre-built house
Any ideas as to what's going on? Did EG get it wrong in their review, or is Microsoft trying to pass off full-price products as discounted? What was the original price of Dawnguard, has that one actually been discounted either?

It was 400 points normally so Microsoft have fucked up, I would avoid that until they fix the issue as 400 points to build a house in game sounds like a rip off.

I'll never get my Orc looking the same again.

    @kinky_mong
Cheers. I stopped because I had it quite clear in my head that while I was willing to pay 200 or so for the sake of completeness, I wasn't going to pay 400.

Dawnguard was apparently 1600 originally, so I guess I haven't been diddled there. Was a bit worried because I bought it first, then noticed the Hearthfire thing and thought maybe Dawnguard was always 800. Phew!

I think Dawnguard was 1200 points, which makes the 800 disappointingly stingey. Particularly when it's supposed to be a bit crap as well.
