Phew, I am actually quite relieved the Borderlands 2 dlc reduction is quite low. Keeps it out of 'impulse buy' territory... will buy the packs one by one as I get through the full game, I reckon...

Picked up the free Walking Dead episode last night. Really nice game - just enough interaction and illusion of agency to pull you right into the drama... I have no doubt Ill be crying like a footballer when the story reaches the inevitable crunch point...

I was looking forward to this as well and downloaded EP 1, but I'll be honest, I'm just not feeling it.

Well, they're currently on back order, but the last code I got was 12.85 for 2000 points. I might even redeem them soon. :o
And they will remain on back order for a very long time. An offer like that is quite rare and that one is obviously expired, 14 for 1800 is reasonable.
Don't let your inexperience with Shopto prevent you from making assumptions! ;)

They're generally good with back-orders - usually takes a week or two, but it's not Zavvi/TheHut's Disappearing Order trick.

If you want instant points to get a deal of the day DO NOT order from Game. Had a nightmare trying to get them to cancel the order as it does not send you a code immediately. Also had issue with Shopto.
Just ended up getting points off live marketplace. Couple of pounds more but Jesus so much easier.

Every code I've purchased from shopto has been instantly available after payment has been made.

Not a bad price for the Borderlands 2 pass.

Hopefully the skyrim dlc will come down to 800 rather than 1200

Picked up BL2 DLC, had 600 points so added 1500 online. Will play them through with my alt I reckon and get some tasty gear.

Got 300 left so just gonna pick up another 1000 when I need the Dark Souls DLC after finishing the PTD edition on PC.

    Got it all sorted me.
  • Deleted user 27 December 2012 14:25:42
yeah i was hoping for a bigger discount but at 1800 it is only 450 per pack so nearly half price of buying each one on its own.

I plan to pick up all the Walking Dead eps tomorrow, but I was wondering if it is actually beneficial to have seen the TV series?
    Haven't watched it yet.

Siro - I have never seen the TV series or read the comics, but picked up the Walking Dead plot straight away. As far as I know the game is a stand-alone story with its own unique characters.

The backdrop is absolutely standard 'zombie apocalypse'. Over-used setting but quality drama.

Anyway - first episode is free all week - you can try that today before buying the other four tomorrow.

    EDIT: what monkehh said!

I downloaded the first ep already, but in the end I never try before buying.

Thanks for the answers. If it picks up any more GOTY awards I'll have to put it on the top of the pile! ;)

I'd never heard of the walking dead before episode 1, and I normally hate zombie apocolypse themes, but this really is a special game. Each episode is 2-3 hours long so shouldn't be too punishing on your backlog!
  • Deleted user 27 December 2012 16:50:50
I played ep 1 last night, was okay. Story was interesting but didn't like it. Only game that I have played that felt similar was heavy rain which was far better.
Might give it a punt though if the deal is big.

Can you play Walking Dead one-handed without ruining it?

Thought this could be the ideal game to play through over the next six weeks for half an hour or so each day, but don't want to ruin the experience if it's better waiting.

It's actually fairly difficult two handed!

The action scenes need you to aim with the right joystick and then 'fire' with a right handed button press. Which is a bit uncomfortable. But I guess that would be no trickier with one hand than two. Otherwise, it is easy enough one handed (as long as your one hand is your right hand).

I am presuming you have an arm injury and not a zombie fetish!

Oh crap, I completely forgot about the discounted Borderlands 2 Season Pass! I'm on a plane at the moment, so of course can't use my Xbox.

However I've just bought it through the Xbox Marketplace mobile website, so hopefully that worked ok (never used it before).

That will be fine, as long as you bought it on your gamer card it will be ready to download as soon as you switch your Xbox on. You can check your download queue on the site to confirm that it is bought and ready to download.

I'll never get my Orc looking the same again.

Anyone else unable to add episodes 3 & 4 of Walking Dead to their download queue via xbox.com?

@robthehermit Worked fine for me from the Xbox itself.

200 points an episode plus first ep free equals BARGAIN! :D

Yeah I've got this problem too. I can buy them no problem, but eps 2 & 4 aren't able to be added to the d/l queue for some reason...

That worked out well for those of us (like, say, me) who waited until all five episodes were out and then bought the lot. I only finished up last week.

That's just a ridiculous bargain. Anyone who hasn't played TWD and doesn't grab it today needs their head checked.

Played Ep 1 now after everyone's feedback. It was quite good, looking forward to continuing very soon.

I wonder, how much does the story actually branch. E.g. I saved Duck, but if I had saved the guy, would I have stayed at the farm or anything?
I guess it's a no, but it would be awesome if it did. Maybe something to a lesser degree?

Also liked the stats in the end. I actually wanted to go with the majority about the final decision, but ended up doing the other as I didn't get the action button displayed for some reason, and I feared I'd run out of time for either if I hesitated.

    @siro

there are some fairly significant differences in how the characters react to you depending on the decisions you make

@siro - Walking Dead episode 1 spoiler...I choose to save the other guy but he still died and Duck survived. Kenny was pretty pissed with me though!

Mark of the ninja is brilliant so far. When I played the demo I struggled with the controls a bit but I must have been an idiot...

Also had the same issue with the d/l queue, but it shows in my purchase history, so assume they'll all be okay to re-download from the marketplace via the xbox.

Looking forward to rattling through this series :0)

    Why look, it's a blog:
