Only problem I see so far is that the xbl version is only co-op in local play, not online.

Yeah I didn't buy D&D because of your comments on it. I've not played a looter since Torchwood so fingers crossed this is a good 'un.

Registered 8 years agoI'm doing some serious gaming over the next few days. I've got 1200 points but I can't decide between I Am Alive and American Nightmare. I loved Alan Wake, and I enjoyed the trial for I am Alive too. Oh woe is me. -

Registered 3 years agoso I finally bought Hydrophobia and, erm, I really like it. Technically it's a bit of a mess, but the whole Poseidon Adventure vibe really does it for me.
Feel like a right tight git for waiting until it was 200 points. -

Yeah, I got it at 400 I think and it's not actually too bad. A bit like a poor man's Tomb raider but easily worth the price. The voice overs are awful though.

Brief previews of all of this year's Summer of Arcade releases from xblaratings.com. Sounding rather promising, I'm still very keen to try Deadlight and Dust.

I'm torn regarding Tony Hawks HD. It's out this week I think on XBLA, but not out for a few weeks (I think) on PSN. I think I will need to play it on a dualshock. -

Registered 2 years agoI'm a little sceptical about deadlight. I hope its good but I'm not convinced yet. Also not sure about Tony hawks. Has it aged well? I loved them on the ps1 but games have moved on since then...
I'm playing iron brigade at the moment and can't see why people like it so much. Its the usual average double fine game but without the charm their games always have -

Never really got on with the Tony Hawk games (love the Skate series mind) so I'll more than likely give it a miss but I do hope it has aged well for the people that are going for it.

Registered 3 years agoI'm quite excited for Deadlight, but I pretty much always like artsy puzzle platformers.
Hybrid is an XBLA shooter, and if past form is anything to go by will therefore likely to be decent enough, but sell 5 copies, 4 of which will be at the DOTW price.
I've absolutely no interest / nostalgia for Tony Hawks, as it's one of those franchises from my gaming wilderness years, and unless the reviews are ludicrously good, I can't see my mind changing
I suspect Dust will be this years Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet game, in that a highly regarded / hyped through word of mouth indie title comes out to cries of 'S'Alright' from pretty much the entire world, but hope I'm wrong.
The other upcoming one I'm really keen on is Rock Band Blitz, but guess that'll be a while yet, and potentially get lost amongst the Xmas blockbusters. -

Registered 2 years agoNone of the summer of arcade titles interest me that much. I'm sure Deadlight and Dust will be good, but I'm not fussed about picking them up straight away. Hoping Retro City Rampage comes out soon. Should be a lot of fun. -

Registered 6 years agoOf this year's Summer Of Arcade titles, Deadlight's looking most likely to be a Day 1 for me, unless it fails to score well.
My problem is that any XBLA titles will have to wait until I've played Fez, which I'll buy once I've cleared a little of the backlog - which isn't going down as I'm mid playthrough on Lost Odyssey and have foolishly got back in to Reach - and once a proper working patch is in place.
Can see the likes of Dust joining the likes of Alan Wake: AN and I Am Alive amongst my 'waiting for a DotW sale' list. Wouldn't mind a deal on The Walking Dead series as well, once all the episodes are out (wishful thinking, looking at how well it's selling)
The dark horse is Hybrid. I may well give the demo a go: if it adds something new and has a few people playing I may be tempted to use it as a MP stop-gap till Halo 4 arrives...Why look, it's a blog:

Registered 9 years agoJust downloading trial for The Walking Dead, which I assumed was a PC exclusive! How does the console version compare?
And also - someone was selling cheapo MS points in batches here recently, still got any (might need them if I end up really liking TWD)? -

I cant compare the console version to PC but what I can say is I had zero expectations from TWD...trial convinced me to buy Episode One (400 points is cheap enough). As soon as I finished EP1 I bought EP2 straight away and played it in one sitting.

The most engrossed I've ever been in a game, script is incredible and is definately one of my GOTY year candidates - and I haven't read the comics or watched the show. If 3/4/5 keep the quality as high it will achieve "all time classic" status.
edit - and it was evilvort3x on the forum selling points. I got some from him a couple of weeks ago.

I've watched some vids of it -- the 'novel' movement and cover mechanic does not look fun, imho. If you meant graphically, it seems ok in that regard. Sadly, I think it will not do well, but we'll see... -

Registered 7 years ago@andytheadequate I'm going to wait for the trial before I pass that judgement but when I say it and Deadlight interest me, that's really in the context of the summer of arcade, Dust looks ok I guess but it's not my kind of game, Wreckecter is ruled out by not having kinect and I've already forgotten the other one if there is another.
I very much doubt this year's line up with live up to previous years (Braid, Limbo, Bastion, etc) but like I said, I'll give them a try first.
Also even if it doesn't live up to previous years that doesn't mean it's the end of the world and all XBLA games are now shit, the 360 is dead, blah, blah, bloody blah... sorry but the tendencies to ring the death bell seem to be increasing amongst gamers and it's annoying. I don't know if it's because of the global economic gloom or just that we're getting close to the end of the longest console cycle ever but lets all try and give it rest eh?

Registered 2 years agoAlthough nothing in the summer of arcade really appeals to me, this year has been pretty brilliant for xbla games so far. Fez, minecraft, trials evo, spelunky etc have all been reviewed very well. Also, people seem to say summer of arcade is getting worse each year, but then refer back to it in future years as an example of a classic line up. I remember doing it about 2010, I didn't buy any games on launch but when I did pick them up they were all pretty impressive -

Rubbish DLC discounts for Deal of the Week this week, unfortunately. Well... I suppose they might not be rubbish if you were actually waiting for them, but it's a bit crap that they're not reducing the full games as well.
Anyone know what this week's "you've failed to win Scratch and Match" consolation discounts are? -

Registered 6 years ago@Blerk: now that is a particularly shitty DotW list. Wouldn't surprise me if DotW is deliberately slight over the next few weeks as the focus shifts to SoA.
I made a cheeky impulse-buy this morning: got the Splatters for 400msp in the MS Studios sale. It reviewed well and the new(er) trailer they put on marketplace made it look fun. Ususally enjoy these puzzle games so happy for it to sit on the HDD until I get round to it :0)Why look, it's a blog:

Really enjoyed the base game, and this sort of thing usually means a small MP community re-emerges for a week or two... -
If anyone's after points for the Summer of Arcade you can get 4200 from GAME's web site for a penny under £28 at the minute.
