    @Blerk I'm guessing that when he heard the word "app" he assumed you meant an iPhone app rather than an app for the dashboard itself.

    An app which you can get by going into the usual place for the deal of the week and selecting "Sales and Special Offers +" on the right. Then trying the scratchcard game to get the bonus offers. Got that Bremenacht? :-P

    Interesting to see the comments about Spelunky's music - I absolutely agree that it's not very good. Which is a terrible, terrible shame because the PC original's retro-styled chip-tunes were really brilliant. :(

    As for the game itself, it's all good. If anything it feels slightly more forgiving than the original and I do quite like the new graphic style even though I loved the 16-bit style of the PC version as well.

    I do think they've messed up with the price point, though. 1200 just doesn't feel right for this type of game, especially after Fez came in at 800. I suspect most people who aren't already familiar with the game will sit it out and wait for a sale, which would be a shame.

    Couldn't agree more. I'm certainly waiting for a DotW, though that's in part because I have more than enough titles to play before I even need to try the demo of this.

    Don't really think the pricepoint is a "shame", as long as those holding off for a DotW actually buy it when it is reduced. I can see this getting an 800msp DotW in 3 months or so and doing very good business at the pricepoint it probably should have been released at...

    I did read that part of the agreement with Microsoft Studios was to replace the pixel art look with something more modern, perhaps that extended to the music too? In agreement that the original tunes are ace, of course.

    I think the biggest mistake was replacing the title theme. Cave Story Plus proves that you can take a chip-tune classic and remix it in a modern style without losing what made it brilliant in the first place, and that's absolutely what they should've done here.

    I'm sounding too negative, though - it still seems like a really excellent update, there's just one or two slightly disappointing things that could've very easily been dealt with.

    All that said, I haven't bought it despite my previous pimping. Why? I discovered I've only got 1120 points. :D

    Actually I think that the dashboard app that you have to download doesn't currently feature in the Games > Sales and Specials panel. It has mysteriously disappeared, and you have to go to the App Marketplace to grab it now.

    I suppose they don't want too many people to know about it in case they win stuff.

    I'm still not entirely sure what I'm supposed to be winning, even! If they list the prizes anywhere I haven't seen them.

    I have no idea why it's taken me so long to play Outland after buying it in a sale last year, it's pretty much made for a Metroidvania fan like me! I enjoyed every second of it last night.

    I very much enjoyed that up to a point. And that point was an excruciatingly-hard multi-form boss battle which I couldn't get past. :(

    Perhaps this "Sales & Specials+" app is no longer available? I've looked and can only see "deal of the week", "everyday value" & "recently reduced" in the games area of the dashboard. Even turned off the family settings, thinking it may reveal more - no joy.

    You have to go to the APPS tab to get it now, I believe.

    The apps are a complete and utter mess now. After the last dash update the only place you can get to the Twitter app is through the store - it doesn't even show up in the 'my apps' tab. New apps show up with no announcement as to what they are or what they offer, and most of them are completely wonky and only work half the time.

    on the apps, is ITV player (or whatever it's called) to be found somewhere?

    I tried to find it the other day to watch the Tour De France after the Sky+ failed, but couldn't find it.

    Will keep a look out for this specials one as well.

    I didn't think we had the ITV one. There's iPlayer, 4OD and the Channel 5 one but I'm not remembering seeing ITV. Although that's possibly because I never watch ITV, 'cos it's bollocks, like. :D

    I love how the shopkeepers in Spelunky are part of a union or something. I killed one in one level, and now there are shopkeepers in every level going after me shouting 'TERRORIST!' :-)

    Loving Spelunky to bits. I've clocked up 46 deaths so far. Only got to world 2 twice so far and shat myself with all of the new monster variety. Didn't last long as every surface seems like it wants to hurt me in some way.

    My only gripe is the music. I fucking hate it. There is one track in the caves in particular that seems unedited and choppy. It actually distracts me. Not sure a game has been able to do that before.. Not a big fan of the damn Ghosts showing up after 2.5min either.. I want to explore >.<

    Anyway, I'll be addicted to this for some time. So much to discover.

    Very tempted to get Spelunky but I think I've purchased enough this month already so may leave it for next month. That can all change at the drink of a pint though.

    I wonder how hard it'd be to rip the soundtrack from the PC version of Spelunky and use it as a custom soundtrack on the XBLA version? :)

    Does it show up bang on 2.5mins all the time then? I noticed it when I was playing but only checked the once. Bit shi that, you'd think with the random levels the ghost would be random, from say 2-5mins or something.

    Found a wheel of fortune, made some money on it, mid-spin the ghost turns up! I was niave enough to think it stopped time or something.

    I made that mistake too. I was on a roll with the wheel and didn't notice the ghost coming out to play...

    Got as far as the ice caves a couple of times but haven't got the shortcut to it yet. Looking at the achievements when I booted up the game, I noticed that there's one for 1000 games played. Didn't think that would be doable but after 3 play sessions I've amassed 120 deaths. I'll feel better if I can make it to the end before that 1000 deaths achievement pops up :|

    I like the Spelunky soundtrack. It has an Amiga/Atari ST feel to it.

    I am crap at the game, though. Think I made it to level 3 once last night.

    Found it but only by going to apps then pressing Y and searching for 'sales'. That shows the correct tile but said tile was nowhere to be seen without the search.. Bloody dash is a work of idiocy tbh.

    Haha! Thank you. I followed the other instructions but jsut typed in 'Sale' thinking it would be good enough to find anything with 'sale' in it. It was - but not in apps! Trying with 'sales' did the trick.

    Powered by Bing eh? Bing must be worse than the EG search then.

    Seems that Frogger: Hyper Arcade Edition is releasing today. I wonder if they've managed to do for Frogger what Namco managed for Pac-Man? I'm guessing.... no.
