So... The online is broke in Mr Driller ONLINE?! Poor fucking show, Namco. Poor fucking show.

    Surely that's a misleading advertisement?

To be honest, I'd mostly be playing Mr. Driller single player, or local multiplayer if that's possible so it's not too much of a concern for me.

    Plus, aren't they patching it?

    They'd want to..

Anyway, another vote for N+ here. It's good and all, but you can get a version of it on the PC for free, no?

Oh, if you've never played Carcassone, get it. I got it for free with that XBLA offer, and it's awesome.

I've already got Carcassone, I got it for free as well :D

Good point about N+, I forgot it was a free PC game. Hmm, that complicates matters somewhat!

    Damnit spending points is tough.

Metacritic pages for Mr Driller and N+

Hmm.... well, Battlezone was always one of my favourite machines to seek out in arcades at the time, I've just not been impressed with many of the 'classics' that've popped up on XBLA in the past. Good sign that they've included the twin-stick controls!

The blurb for its multiplayer made me laugh:
Battlezone on Xbox LIVE Arcade adds exciting new multiplayer modes for up to two players both locally and over Xbox LIVE
    OMG! :o

Wow, bit of a slating there for Mr. Driller! Bit of a shame, I always liked the older ones but N+ just seems too good to pass up on. I'll go with that one methinks, arr.

To be honest, I didn't like the demo much. I'm not a big fan of racing and/or car games in general (other than Mario Kart anyway).

Ignore N+ being free on PC. The XBLA version is worth every penny. Co-op is brilliant, and with all multiplayer absent from the PC version (I believe) it's a great addition. Plus different levels, new enemies, new tools in the level editor, better control with a pad over keyboard, achievements, leaderboards with your friends

    Buy it now, basically!

Did you try challenge or race mode? Race mode really isn't what the game is about. Challenge mode is basically a puzzle game and it rocks!

I tried both. The Challenge mode was better, but still not really my thing. I just have a hard time doing any driving related activities that aren't karts or Warthogs :D

Haha it's not really a problem with the game, as I say, I'm just cack-handed with vehicles in almost every single game ever made.

I wanted to like Gripshift but the demo really put me off :(

Worth pointing this out at the moment:

    2100 points for 13

Makes an 800 point game cost 4.94 rather than 6.85 (presuming RRP of 17.99)! \o/

I dont think I've ever turned anything off quicker than Rocky and Bullwinkle, and there's been some impressively shit stuff on the XBLA.

Just the screenshots alone for R&B looked like utter, utter shite.

But we know it'll sell better than most XBLA games because of the name :(

Eeesh! That coming out a mere week after the mighty IK. Well it's like taking a dump in a baby deer's mouth. Disgusting.

Just to note I have ordered these but they are awaiting stock.

Apart from the new Halo maps not sure what else I wil use the pionts on. Can't decide whether to get xbox original like Black or Psychonauts, or to get something like Rez. Played demo of Rez but haven't played black or psycho. Any thoughts?

    Retty's capsule reviews:

Black: Halo with combat trousers on. Good game but annoying checkpoint system (it doesn't save mid-level, you have to complete them).

Psychonauts: Great little platformer with Lucasarts adventure-style humour. Underappreciated.

(You can probably find both of those cheaper on disk, remember)

Rez: A shooter, a puzzler, a really quite unique game in the way it brings everything together. Excellent. One of my favourites!

As for the Halo 3 maps, bollocks to them until they're free.

Cheers Retroid. I wasn't going to pay for the maps but peer pressure from the Monday Halolers did it. I'll see what Black and Psy are on ebay then, never see them in shops. leaning towards Rez then.

"THE TRIAL VERSION OF BATTLEZONE IS RESTRICTED"

No shit, kill 4 tanks (which takes less than 30 seconds) and it's all over.

Way to sell a game Atari!

    This space left intentionally blank.

    O_o

Back to the "play for 30 seconds then piss you off, BUY ME!" school of selling, I see.

    Idiots.

Today will be the last day on my N+ or Mr. Driller vote, though it seems a foregone conclusion.

And yeah what the hell is up with the Battlezone demo? Four tanks... wow, I reeeeeally got a feel for the game.

Black should have been called "Gun Porn". Also, inexplicably, given that focus, the guns are all really weedy.

Ok so I went with N+

It's great! I've only done the tutorial and a few levels after that but it's loads of fun. I predict it's going to get impossibly hard about half way through but, at the moment, I'm loving it.

Just wish I had more time for it!

I'll no doubt end up getting Mr. Driller at some point in the future though. Then again, I'm also still wanting to get Castlevania and about 20 other games. Bloody addicted!

    Glad you're not disappointed, anyway!

But blimey, got a chance to try the Battlezone demo yesterday..... fuck's sake, it's awful :(
