Happily sat on my sofa eating crisps lastnight until a bloody great spider just appeared next to the telly. This was a shock which left me motionless for a few seconds until I jumped into action and grabbed my BB gun. I grabbed ammo and fumbled the small plastic BBs dropping them all over the floor while trying to load up the clip. Once I was finally tooled up I unloaded on it and put it down for good which then left me with the task of picking up loads of small yellow plastic balls. Totally worth it.

I hate spiders. All spiders. They must all die. I'm with Lexx on this, except that there is NO WAY I could finish a poo knowing there was a spider in the room. Seriously, my sphincter would tense up so tight I'd suck the toilet into myself.

Having said that, I'm far more scared of humble house spiders, garden spiders, and ESPECIALLY Daddy Long Legs (crane flies) than I am of tarantulas and whatnot. Possibly coz they all live in another country, but mainly it's coz they look more like mice with loads of legs, all soft and furry.

And for those asking "why?", it's nothing to do with a fear of being bitten. I know they can't hurt me. It's pathological, I don't want their legs touching me. It has no grounding it rationality whatsoever.

    Still. Kill 'em all.

I don't have a problem with spiders. I think you're all being a bit soft.

Now moths, they are a different matter. I hate the fuckers.

Yeah, but you get these awesome little things as well. I'm a massive girl when it comes to spiders in general, but those are cute.

I'd still have to kill it if it looked at me.

As for the drunken guy, my uni housemate used to do that - torch insects. That's not him in the article, though, but I could imagine him doing it.
