He didnt just get accused of the crime, though. He was accused of being a pedo, having child porn seized on his PC and all kinds of crazy crap.

And, sadly that kind of shit sticks and could easily ruin your life.

I just realised I did the title of the thread in a 'Bear in the Big Blue House' voice.

    This makes me happy.

    Carry on.

Ah yeah, here you go: Daily Express and Daily Star pay out £550,000 damages.

(The two papers are part of the same group, all owned by the unlovely Richard Desmond.)

The thread title made me think of Where's Wally, but a Maddy edition.

    I'm going to hell.

The McCanns should still be charged with neglect IMO for leaving their kids alone in another country. Doesn't matter how 'close' you are from them.
Saying that Iím guessing they are paying the worst penalty (knowing if they would have looked after her better she would prolly still me here).

No. No it didn't. Fucking part-timers.

glol! That has to be the most priceless accusation I've ever heard.

Must of been hell being accused of it, and having your face on every paper. half a million doesn't sound like enough to be honest considering how much money the papers probably made out of this sad story. Until they do charge somebody it's always going to hang over him, and I suspect he had fuck all to do with it anyway now that everybody thinks the parents tried to cover up an accidential death,

Apparently they are going to print full retractions of everything they said as part of this deal. I am guessing they will not be on the front page though like the original stories.

At least the guy already lives abroad so he must be a little insulated from this.

This combined with the Mosley stuff (+ Ashley Cole) is all heading towards a big change in the way paper work apparently.

Seems like talking total unfounded shit about people may become a thing of the past :o

I don't like the look or Murat though. No payout should be awarded due to the fact he looks shifty. He is obviously guilty of something, why not tie it up nicely and just assume he did it. Case closed everyone wins.

Because, for example, the increase in sales during the murat shit flinging outweighed what they paid him.

And its generally the same for most NoTW 'exclusives'.

I think they accidentally killed her in a drunken row. Got home one night after boozing, had a bust up, she picks up maddy starts talking about leaving and divorce, he throws something at her and it causes her to fall over smashing maddies head. They are in the shit together, they both know it was an accident. The concoct this story about abduction, which also they want to believe because mentally it helps them escape from what they done, they submerse themselves in this lie both inwardly and outwardly.

Nah the best theory I have heard is as the parents are both doctors they had access to medication and were giving the kids sleeping tablets to make sure they had a free night from them and Maddy had some sort of adverse reaction that killed her.

The consequences of owning up to that would have been both of them being struck off as doctors and the remaining kids being taken into care so you basically talking about their lives being totally fucked so they disposed of the body and came up with the kidnapping story.

If they ever found the body they might be able to establish if they died of an OD or some over advise reaction to medication so they made dam sure the body would never be found.

As a theory it looks pretty good to me and you can even understand the McCannís actions to an extent if this is what happened.

That's what I thought at first, but then they spent so much money 'looking for her' that it makes you wonder. Even if I had fucked up and done that, and covered it up. I couldn't be enough of a bastard to put everyones donations into a lost cause, I'd of given up the search after a month and donated the money to the NSPCC or something.

So either they didn't do it, or they are complete asshats.

The NotW are about to get totally and utterly fucked over this Mosley stuff. Weíre talking mega mega money, like nothing before. Will have massive knock on implications. As for Ashley Cole, if he wins his case it will set a new precedent for what constitutes public interest, and will effectively end Ďkiss and tellí stories.

And rightly so. Mosley may be a total perv, but that has fuck all to do with anyone else if its all consensual. The NoW editors stances as to why it is in the public interest are just toe-curlingly cringing.

NotW just went way too far. Itís not just all the bullshit with the video and the outrageous headlines, but the fact that they actually sent the video to all the FIA bosses. Itís not just all the libel stuff, itís the malicious defamation that went with it. Itís pretty outrageous I agree, and they deserve whateverís coming to them.

Agreed. What did mosley do wrong? A bit of role play? What the hell has it got to do with anyone?

You know on the whole search thing I think it just got out of their control. They of course had to initially go along with it but after it became so big how on earth would they have been able to put a stop to it all without raising suspicion?

Still of course maybe they did have nothing to do with it but I can still see its possible if they did they might have got caught up in the campaign to find Maddy and have been unable to stop it.

but there is covering it up, and then there is showing a picture of her to the pope. I mean, unless they knew there was no way in hell they would get caught, nobody with an ounce of sense would of spent millions of other peoples donations trying to find her, because the response if they are found guilty after having done all that will be far worse.

so either are either very very cocky about it, or they seriously didn't do it. I'd like to think they did do it, then I can mentally wrap a ribbon around it and not worry about where the poor girl might be. I dread to think that maybe the parents didn't do it, if that makes sense. And I think that might cloud peoples judgements and explain why people want the parents to be guilty of it.
