I used to read heaps of comics. Now not so much. I'm looking forward to Brian K Vaughan's next story though and I might give that Mark Millar/Dave Gibbons "Secret Service" one a go.

This is excellent.^^ Never followed through with New Krypton, but the other Johns/Frank story, Superman and the Legion of Super Heroes was very nice also.

@dutchspeededup. Good luck with the Marvel.

The new DMZ collection (Vol 11) dropped through the letterbox last week. It's a good 'un. Right back to it's best IMO.

Up to vol 9 of Y the last man now & still really enjoying it.

    It's garbage, so I wouldn't bother.

Also, I went to weymouth this holiday weekend and spent all of my money in this odd little book shop that at first glance looks like the works but is just disgustingly cheap. Most of the boggo 'issue 57-61' collections were £2.99 and something like the War of Kings hard cover was £9.99.

    9.99!

    It was crazy.

I really hated this series. It was like it was trying way to hard to be edgy and violent.

    Get bent.

I just found this speech given by Neil Gaiman. I'd recommend it to anyone who's enjoyed his novels, his songs, his movies or most of all his comics. I don't happen to agree with him on many of his opinions, including these, but it's still insightful to see what led him to where he is.

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

You could try All Star Superman, Grant Morrison does a decent job.
Also the Brad Meltzer JLA reboot.

Green Lantern 4 and GL Corps are a good, read them in tandem upto Sinestro Wars. It all goes to shit after that.

At times it may have been guilty of that, but I still like it's take on Super Powers and the consequences of the people having them not being a black and white choice between good and evil.

It's top notch stuff. Keeps dragging you deeper - the mystery behind Mitchell and his powers (do I need to spoiler that? I don't think I do but I will anyway) is one thing but the political drama is just handled so well (much better than I thought it could be in the medium).

I have been enjoying YTLM. Not sure where it's going, just finished vol 8 this weekend. Do find it quite depressing though.

Playing all the right notes— but not necessarily in the right order.

I just read the last one a few days back. I really enjoyed it. The ending was really rather good IMO. Not what I expected at all.

Stick with it dutch for at least vol 2, unless you really don't care for it.

    I'll give Vol. 2 a burst Vortex.

I didn't hate it, but nor did it grab me. Perhaps it was a mistake reading it immediately after Ex Machina, which I loved.

I might well give Ex machina a go now after enjoying YTLM so much.

Also tempted by The Authority, anyone willing to share any opinions on either of these?

Ex Machina - I'd go from the first 10 to the last 10, padding in between.

Authority is a mess of stolen ideas badly executed(art is nice though, if a total fuckin waste), but that's Warren Ellis for you, a thief and a paedo.

    Plubs

Some of the runs are better than others. The abnett volume is pretty cool and the Millar one isnt terrible.

Overall there's more good than bad.
