Froch's going to get owned. Hard.
I'd say it's 50/50 each way. Both fighters throw awkward punches that can catch the other and cause serious damage. Although Froch has a better chin than Bute, Bute has the better work rate.
SS1 just starting, Froch v Bute
Good first round, looks like Froch is prepared to take some chances.
I'm impressed Bute is still standing.
Didn't expect that, absolutely dominated. Well done Froch!
I stand corrected. That was different class from Froch.
Mwahaha, fuck the haters, Froch is a beast.

Not sure why he's so underrated and unpopular. Fought everyone everywhere and never been dropped, Kessler was close so Ward's the only real black mark.
He's got some heart, you have to give him that.

The only hater I see in here is Deckard who just got proved to be ignorant.
Froch's a class act and has fought everyone worth anything in his division.
Ward isn't even a "black mark" imo, he is top 10 p4p easy, less than no disgrace in being outclassed by him.

I see Froch is pretty grounded after his win:
What a tool.
So you disagree with the points he makes? On what grounds? Froch's run of fights over the last couple of years is borderline unprecedented, at least in the modern era.
The news about Paulie Williams is terrible, though.
I disagree that he has eclipsed Joe Calzaghe, yeah.
It's probably a stretch to take that literally, sure. The length of Joe's career and number of title defences is too much to say you could "eclipse" that, even by matching it - but he's not wrong in that he fought very few world class fighters at the top of their game (Kessler too early, Hopkins too late, for example), likely fewer than Froch will have fought by the end of next year at the very least.
But if you look at other quotes from the article:
"You've got to put me up there with the others, at least"
"And while the 34-year-old Froch was keen to stress he did not necessarily think he was a better fighter than any of the above"
it really seems like you're over-reacting.
Given the relative lack of "hype per achievement" he has received in the mainstream press compared to that showered on Eubank/Benn/Calzaghe, I'm not sure why you begrudge him a bit of self-promotion.
It was a great fight, and a great performance - no doubt. And I don't take umbrage with his self-promotion.
But in his last two fights, he won one of them. Sure he is amongst the best of british in recent times, but he's also very condescending in that article.
He claims that an unbeaten record is not important, then goes on to say:
"Jeff Lacy couldn't cut it at world level and Joe Calzaghe exposed him for what he was. But Lucian Bute is a great fighter, was unbeaten in 30 fights with 24 knockouts."
So if one fighter is unbeaten it's meaningless, unless you beat one yourself of course.
Kessler Ward could have gone either way had it not been for cuts IMO, it was a very even fight, I still think either of them would beat Froch.
From another article:
"Fighting like that, with the focus I had and the way I felt physically, I'd beat anyone in my weight division, there's nobody who can touch me.
"If you watch the fight against Ward, I was a totally different fighter, I had a bad night, but that kind of performance [against Bute] beats Andre Ward.
"If I catch anyone on the chin like I caught Bute, it's game over, it's as simple as that. I'd beat anybody, including Andre Ward."
Yeah OK Carl.
Boxing is officially done - discuss? I'm not even sure I want to.

The pacman lost last night
The Pacman was robbed last night
The baffling result last night can be summed up perfectly in this sentence from the BBC news article:
Arum, who has contracts with both fighters, said: "I'm going to make a lot of money on the rematch, but this [decision] was outrageous."
