Auntie just passed away. 2 months from diagnosis, around the same as my mother I think, seems quicker though for some reason.

    Stupid fucking world.
Same happened last year in our family. One family gathering she was there, next I hear she's been diagnosed with cancer, next thing you know you're at a funeral. It just seemed very surreal. Didn't get to see her in between either as she asked everyone to give her and her family some space so she could focus on treatment and such.
    :-(

    My condolences.

Thanks all. Got a 7 hour drive for the funeral on Tuesday, I think I'm going to need an audiobook or something to keep my mind off it all. :(

I'm still pretty fucked up if I'm honest. Don't know how I'll feel a year in, I've tried very hard not to remember the date it happened though.

(I prefer to remember the birthdays of those I've lost)

I found myself forgetting the date that my dad died. That's not a nice realisation to have happen, that you can't recall the date.

It does get better but now, over six years later, I'm finding it coming back. I'm going to be a dad myself soon and it sucks real bad that my own father is no longer around for that.

My Mum phoned to tell me that they found a tumour in my Dad's lower stomach. He has been having trouble with his arteries aswell had them cleaned up,but is still suffering with chest pains etc.I know for sure and he has said he will not have a bag.My Mum cannot cope with all this after a triple heart bypass.

This is such a shock.I know cancer is so common but when it hits home it is like a mortar strike to your senses. This has been a bad year for health for my entire family really.

He is an ex Royal Marine Commando from the 60's,he even went undefeated boxing for them.Had a vice like handshake still in his late 60's.As tough as he still is,it can bring you down to earth so quickly.I think it hits people like this the hardest. They have a feeling of invincibility so the shock is double.

The funny thing is,I saw this thread popping about the last few days but never opened it.Little did I know then, that suddenly I would be posting in it.

A wake up call to enjoy every day,and be thankful of good health.

This is an interesting read on cancer, mainly breast cancer, and possibly why 1 in 10 women die from it in the Western world and only 1 in 10,000 women in China.

I think I'd wait for more than one woman's "story" before diving into her claims.
