    Sorry to hear that. My wife's Dad has had terminal pancreatic cancer for about 6 months now. It has been pretty grim and he just wants to die.

    It's a shitty disease.

    Missus is all sorts of broken up. Wouldn't be so bad if it all hit at once even but we've lost my dad, her nan, my mother, had her grandfather diagnosed with dementia and now this over the last 2 years.

    Really hard to function. Seem to get to grips with shit and get smacked again... although this time didn't even really get a chance for that. :(

    Wife's Dad died early this morning after a 6month struggle with terminal cancer. She seems quite ok so far, but has had funeral arrangements to make etc, so she hasn't had time to dwell on it yet.

    Wonder when it will sink in for her.

    We were supposed to be away on holiday just now, but had to cancel that. May try to arrange to take us away for a few days once it's all over to try to get away from it all for a bit, but not sure how she'd feel about that yet.

    Thankfully, we also have to keep our 5 year old entertained which helps keep us busy and get some 'life goes on' perspective.

    I hate seeing this thread bumped and feel kind of guilty for posting some posi news but my mum has now finished treatment and has finished her reconstruction; hair's growing back and fingers crossed that all will now be okay.
    Probably still a long way to go; she'll be on drugs for many years and I don't know much about these things.

    You dare to strike Scurrcules!?

    It's still nice to see good news for others Scurrminator, even for those of us who have lost people. Good stuff.

    @Vortex808:
    Sincere condolences for your loss.

    @Scurrminator:
    Don't feel guilty; especially this thread needs some positive news posted at least for balance and hope.

    @Psycho:
    I guess it's one of those "when it rains, it pours" moments :( Hang in there mate.

    Sorry to hear that Vortex. I'd suggest definitely going away a short while after the funeral. It will do her good, even if she won't want to. Kids are a lifeline at times like these.

    Sorry to hear of losses, it's an awful thing.

    My aunty recovered from it last year. They wrongly thought it was in her bones, happily it turned out that it wasn't, but for a time a bad situation got considerably worse.

    My girlfriend's Mum has stage 4 cancer, is getting chemo at the moment. So far so good, or atleast as much is possible considering the situation. She's been remarkable, the chemo has hardly dented her enjoyment of life at all and the doctors are hopeful for it to go away completely.

    I went on holiday recently and a friends Dad has quite advanced bone cancer. Poor chap can't even stand up straight and the treatment he'd been getting for the last couple of years to keep it at bay is no longer working.

    Yesterday at work I spoke to a new person who'd just started and she mentioned she's in remission after having completed her treatment last year. I can hardly move without someone I know being effected by it at the moment.

    My thoughts to anyone who has to deal with this shitty disease, I lost my Mum to lung cancer when I was around 18.

    4 years later and I still couldn't honestly say I've completely recovered. Its a bad thing to try and deal with in school or college, teachers give you a month and then start bollocking you for missed homework when you can barely get yourself out of bed.

    I'm about to become an Uncle though (: So life moves on I guess. Oh and FCUTA

    Thanks for the thoughts folks, it's much appreciated.

    It always pains me to see this thread bumped, since you always know something bad's happened. It was a nice change to hear Scurrminator's positive news.
