I rarely read this thread because cancer has picked off my close family - my little brother as a child and the only cousin I gave a fig about about 18 months ago - and frankly I'm terrified that someday it'll happen to me, so I try to just forget about it as much as I can. My Dad got it a few years back and has recently been given the all clear however, so that kind of gives me a bit of hope. I'm rooting for you and your wife drhcnip, genuinely.

    F Cancer.

    Stupid new page.

cheers, chaps - only just seen some of these posts - overwhelming how much people pull together over this sort of thing...

just giving an update...both ops went well as far as we know - there was talk of removing the spleen as well but, once they were in there, they left it which i'm assuming is a good sign...she was in critical care for a few days after then on a ward for a few days and now home recuperating...still got the drain in so we need to monitor and measure that and go back tomorrow to check it but she seems to be recovering ok...one of the most amazing things was the fact that the wound from the op, about a foot and a half long, is glued together - no stitches apart from a little anchor one at each end...

they seem to think it all peeled away cleanly so its in soak for biopsy now...we know its a stage 3 one due to the size and spread so assume the biopsy will give more clues about the grade so we can get our heads around the way forward...

a few hurdles jumped now and the major surgery over with so thankful for that

thanks again for the support, guys

doing our best - fair few wobbles along the way but understandable with this sort of shit, especially when it all came out of the blue

poor old daughter's due to start gcses in a few weeks- she's had a rough old time through it all but the school's been very supportive...

It's times like this you see the importance of family. Who stands by you and who drifts away not wanting to know.

Hope you have a good foundation of support to lean upon. Strength to all.

    cheers, chaps

we're damn lucky, tbh - my family's very close and all round the merseyside area where we are so they've been great...wife's family are 300 miles away in devon and in their 80s so i think it's been terribly hard for them...luckily, i get on with them very well so could keep in touch every day...add to that the massive support we've had from both our places of work, online friends/acquaintances etc including you lot on here - we count ourselves fortunate to have the backup and the moral support to help us through...

My neice passed away yesterday after 4 years fighting at the age of 15 :(

We raised 14 grand to do her bucket list, and every box was ticked, still a shock.

That's completely tragic but I'm glad she was able to see out her wishes. It's only words but also, my condolences to you and your family.

15 years old. Fucking hell that's heartbreaking.

Yeah, she was diagnosed a couple of weeks after my dad died. So happy to have played Wario Ware with her as a kid and stuff.

I've gone through 2 suicides, and 3 family members in the last 6 months, but I can't imagine the pain my sister has gone through.

But she was a fighter, and she made the most of what she had!

So very sorry to hear Crispy. Thankfully your niece got to complete her list and at least be in charge. I hope you and your family find the strength to deal with your tragic loss and honour and cherish her.

@CrispyXUKTurbo Really really terrible news, I'm so sorry to hear that. It's terrible at anytime in someone's life, but especially worse with someone so young and shouldn't have go through that. Like you to your sister, I don't really know what to say to you, but for what it's worth she sounded awesome. My sympathies to you and your family. Hope you're all holding up as best you can.

Phone her and tell her you love her. And what a great kid she had. Don't do it on Facebook.

Haven't checked this thread for a while.

Really sorry to hear your sad news, Crispy. The light that burns twice as bright burns half as long. Sounds like she lived every last minute though.

And Tony - fingers crossed that Mrs P makes a full recovery.

Punch cancer in its stupid face. And keep punching it 'til it stays down.

Positive vibes to anyone out there who's having to deal with this scummy little disease.

Edit for incorrect use of apostrophe.
