    You know, I completely forgot I was in the middle of doing another tattoo for pete.

    I'll get back onto the doing another tattoo for pete wagon, I want to oversee the next one assuming I'm not still banned from the place he gets them done (for asking if they put secret dicks into tattoos and really pushing the issue). Whoever did the last one missed a couple of lines that irk me a bit. They seem to go into tracing autopilot and forget to follow the flow of the lines.

    Smart, I like that.

    First sleeve sitting in for sleeve in just over 2 weeks. Inside of elbow and armpit should be... interesting.

    I have a few but have never had what I could describe as blinding pain :)

    Soreness, for sure, that will have set in and passed for you by now. The flaking is awkward, but just take good care of it and it's fine.

    Reading threads about tattoos makes me want more :/

    Well I think I'm coming towards the end of the scabbing now, so hopefully the end of the process but I found I never really had too much problem with pain. I touched on it with my earlier post I guess, but I had next to no pain and very little to no redness. I was showing people 2 or 3 days after it was done and they didn't believe it was done so recently. Unless they felt the raising of the skin, they would be convinced it was a tattoo done a while back.

    Had this done yesterday. Two hours worth of work. It's my second tattoo but definitely hurt more that the other. When I booked in I was offered a two or three hour slot. Very glad I opted for the lesser as I was exhausted by the end. Going to wait till the middle of next month then I'll book myself in for the next two hour session.

    My plan was to go black and grey with elements of colour. Haven't as of yet decided whether I want the colour on the Koi or the surrounding area.

    I don't "get" Koi tattoos. Why not get like a trout or a sturgeon or some such?

    Glad i decided not to get a tattoo done when i was thinking about it a couple of years back. They're a bit silly really, IMHO.

    Other than Mr Cool Ice. His tats rule.

    I like the Japanese {?) style with the flowers and colour and I am looking for inspiration for my next tattoo. But, koi, or fish in general don't mean much or resemble anything to me. I might get binary text of my daughters initials and then her birthdate underneath as she was born 01/01/01. I would do the date as 01012001 but have the 2 a different colour maybe. I have seen a few tats done with white ink and just outlining a rose which looked good but again, it means nothing to me other than it looks good.

    the koi swimming upstream represents strength and perseverance and goes back to the chinese legend of the koi swimming up yellow river reaching the dragon gate and being transformed into a dragon. In that respect it also represents aspirations to better yourself.

    though chinese in origin this has also been adopted by the japanese.

    and that is why not a trout or a sturgeon :p

    I like that sentiment. That's a plus point for a Lou tart, along with the colour and art style. I might have one of those and the binary thing seeing as they're being done by a mate/regular aquaintance.

    @guts

    one thing about white ink is it fades and loses definition (it spreads, as it were) a lot quicker than other inks. colours also have the spreading issue, which is why a lot tattoo artists suggest any colour be outlined in black.

    also, i'd suggest when you have decided what you want, you wait at least a couple months to make sure you are happy with the idea, before getting it actually done :)

    (as you dont seem 100% sure at the mo!)

    Always make sure first. I have two already. I want something bigger. Keep thinking about tigers or snakes as that is what people seemed to have when I was a kid wanting a tattoo. Don're want a snarling tig3r though, or a dagger through the head of the snake. I was thinking a snake curled around my forearm, but would like to  have the Chinese/japanese style border. This got me looking at dragons, but one if my mates has got a water dragon coming from his shoulder and curling around his upper arm which looks nice but I don't want people to think I'm copying him.

    Had this done http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/651/img0224mg.jpg/

    It's a quote from Michael Jordan, inspirational as he was dropped from his high school team and then became the best player to ever play the game.

    @ryohazuki Nice lettering.

    I had my 2nd session on my h/c punk band sleeve on Friday, so I'm at the itching, peeling stage of aftercare/healing. It's looking a bit patchwork at the moment, but once the infilling starts, it'll be much better.

    Lol :D

    Seriously though, band/music tattoos are the worst idea ever and haphazardly covering your limbs with them is just silly.

    Are those plasters?

    Surely those Black bars aren't a tatoo?

    If they are it has to be the worst tatoo ever sorry.

    Thinking of my next tattoo, either a Koi (I know a bit overdone these days!) as I like the story of koi struggling up the river to reach dragons gate, it's a symbol for overcoming adversity and fulfilling destiny (I'd get destiny in Japanese embedded into the water surrounding the Koi).

    Else a man drinking beer with the grim reaper.
