Theres a woman who works in our local tesco who must be about 50 and was clearly so punk it hurts at one point in her life.

Tattoos on her hands and all the way up her amrs arent a good look for her.

:) I really like my mate's Catbus (Totoro) tattoo. Well winked and always makes me smile.

A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.

What would be a good look for her then?

I don't even stand by stuff I though I believed in last week. I would definitely not be proud in my 50s of something I thought looked cool in my youth. This is why I don't have tattoos. I'd regret them immediately, even if I did spend years planning them. And as nick said, once my elastin goes, I'd just look like I lost a fight to a toddler armed with a marker pen.

Once your elastin goes, the rest of you is going to look shit too so I wouldn't worry about it.

Also, I've seen pretty old people with tattoos, and my reaction tends to be that I think they look kinda cool. Think this whole "you'll look stupid when you're old" thing is a bit of a myth perpetuated by people who think tattoos look stupid in the first place.

There's this dude in a tatoo shop on Portobello Market, must be about 70-odd. Covered in Tattoos! He's possibly the coolest guy I've met.

I was planning on getting a second tattoo after my daughter was born. I never could figure out what or where though, so she'll be 3 soon and I'm still free of a second tattoo.
Although funnily enough I was contemplating it again just 2 days ago.

One of the joys of tattoos is that they're really personal, so what other people think doesn't really matter.

    Elastin my arse!

    Epic beard tattoo old dudes.

Also, spoke to my little brother t'other day. He has finally agrees to do a tattoo for me. He has done loads on himself but was previously a bit wary about doing them on other people incase anything went wrong. I have shown him a nice simple thing I want done and he said no probs. It is something I originally thought of years ago, and like salaman it is to do with my daughter*. She is starting secondary school next term and I am finally getting it done.

*Before any of you wiseguys start, I mean it is like salaman as both tattoos would be to do with our respective daughters. Not like salaman as he is having a tattoo to do with my daughter. That would just be weird.

My new one's going in full view I think. Lower arm.
Think carefully about that my friend. If you have the design then you could try getting the transfer stuck on you for a day, sort of try it on for size before you commit to the needle
The transfer idea is a good one, I got some transfers before on Ebay (print out your own temporary tattoos sort of thing), years ago, to try out a tattoo for a week. It definitely helps to either confirm you want it and help with placement and size decisions.
My first tattoo was small and on the side of my shoulder, just as a 'taster' to see how much it hurt etc. Couldn't stop showing it off so my second was on the front of my left forearm and my next one is going on the inside of my right forearm. It is numerics so will just be a nice straight (hopefully) line. I would love to get a large piece on my right forearm someday so forward thinking is important. When I can afford a large bit of work it can go around the front of the forearm and not interfere with the one on the inside. Just need the money now.

Seriously, the spelling isn't even the worst thing about that tattoo. Why do people let themselves be inked with shit most people wouldn't even want stuck their fridge?

You know that thing you do when you slam a cap back on a pen by slapping your hand against the cap?

Yesterday I did that while severely distracted and mildly annoyed - so it was a hard slap - and apparently the cap had been on to begin with, so what I did was take it off, put it on the other end, slap the pen hard against my right palm and impaled my palm with the pen tip.

So now I have a prison tattoo of a full stop on one palm.

-- boobs do nothing for me, I want moustaches and chest hair.

Right? Who knows. Surely for something permanent, you'd want good quality?

Morris, looks good. Is it itching, yet? :D

My mate was stabbed in the hand with a pencil by the class crazy when we were about 8 and the tip is still under his skin. Looks like a long, weird freckle.
