    I quite enoyed the 2010 AvP. Think I'll just run through the marine campaign of that again instead
    That's exactly what I re-installed and playing until this hits a fiver. I know it gets a lot of hate but I really enjoy AvP. Might even see if the MP is still active had a lot of fun with that.

    Hell I found my old AvP2 disc recently so may even give that a dust off to although I doubt I'll be waiting too long for that price. When is the next Steam sale....

    What the fuck is wrong with the world when they cant even produce a decent game from the Alien franchise in 2013. They managed it on the bastard SNES.

    My only problem is I ordered quite a few for my shop and judging by the feedback thus far Im going to be lowering the price on this fucker until I'm making a loss. Cunts.

    vg247 review hasn't been posted yet. Are you living in the future?

    I bet it is a 3.

    I played about an hour and a half of the PC version when it unlocked just after midnight and the good news is it ain't the worst game I've ever played but the bad news is that it is still a huge disappointment, considering the potential of the licence. The visuals are ropey, circa 2007, with poor animation (the marines walk like they've shit themselves) and, even worst, the clipping is dreadful as you and they can just casually walk through each other, which really kills any sense of realism. Lighting is passable and the textures are average at best with blocky shadows, which betray its console origins... that and the fact the game sets itself to 1280x720 when you first load it up. Gameplay seems fine in that the controls are responsive and it plays as you'd expect for a FPS but the A.I. is pathetic and I am sure I am the only one actually killing anything. The other marines seem to just be there for decoration. It is depressing also to be killing dozens of aliens which bleed acid that does no damage to the ship at all, mainly because it and the bodies disappear after 10 seconds!

    It is hard to believe this game has been in development for half a decade as it is so uninspiring. Even the story and dialogue are a letdown. You're on the Sulaco for five minutes and when you return to your ship it is filled with alien eggs. In one section I couldn't even shoot the egg in one room, even after a brief dialogue scene, but pass through a door and the game happily let me shoot the two in there. I could also grenade fellow marines without any reaction from them. Basically this game is unpolished and feels half-finished in my opinion. I'm so disappointed, especially given Gearbox's involvement. Why is it that they make great Borderland games but can't make a decent Alien game? I don't think this game is quite as bad as their Duke Nukem Forever disaster but is comes a close second. 2013's first duff game. :(

    Played some of the PC version and it's alright. I mean it is rubbish but not catastrophically bad at all. The graphics are decent if you pretend the game is from 2006 and at least it has a fov slider in the graphic options and of course being on PC the frame rate is good. :p

    @AdamAsunder
    The CA game is still very much under wraps.
    According to the odd article(EG, RPS) it's different, the tech demo shown to Sega was given the green light.

    @Trafford

    Considering their heritage an RTS could be in the making. I hope not, I don't think it's the best use of the licence, although I did play as lot of the admittedly terrible EA one from last gen and have some fun.

    The Aliens IP does tend to paper over the cracks for me.

    The word going round twitter is that the campaign for A:CM was all outsourced to a studio called TimeGate. Apparently Gearbox have only done the multiplayer.

    No excuse at all of course, but it does make me even more curious about the mp. Is it any good? It will be the mp alone that decides whether I spend 40 today or 10 later.

    Played through the first 2 missions coop and thought it was decent. Nothing earth shattering, sure, but not the massive disaster the Internet seems to have decided it is. Between this and DS3 I have a fair bit of coop shooting to do :).

    Even though Gearbox are a fairly large studio, i was curious how they had managed to release Borderlands 2 and now this only within a few months of each other.

    Getting this outsourced seems logical and Timegate probably seemed like a good option after they did Section 8 - something has been lost in translation though it seems.....

    Played the first level on PC and it's certainly not the worst game ever it's nothing special, certainly runs ok on my ageing PC but it's not going to win any awards for visuals that's for sure.

    The damage to the Xenos is appalling though, shitty "blood" textures that looks like you've been really trigger happy in a game of paintball rather than you've taken an Alien apart with your pulse rifle.

    The whole CoD unlocks system makes fuck all sense in the game as well, oh you've killed this many Aliens shooting from the hip, your pulse rifle now holds 60 rounds!

    FUCK OFF.

    This space left intentionally blank.

    It looks like most review scores seem to range between 2 and 5 out of 10. What a shame.

    Damn...Even though it's a disaster I'll probably give it a go when it's down to 10 pounds or something...

    I even (gasp!) enjoyed DNF a little bit so might get some enjoyment out of this...But really, how can anyone waste such a licence?

    It would appear that Gearbox have a ready-made excuse though : Muttler has informed us that, apparently, they outsourced development to Timegate.

    Cue the "We had nothing to do with it. HEY EVERYONE, look over there!, look!, look at Borderlands 2!" distractions to follow......
