I have, though only once, and not yet in blu-ray (even though I have it)...
A quick google confirms you're right though, definitely blood...I just thought that if someone took off part of my head with a pipe I'd shout out in pain instead of talking Ripley down...

This does mean that AVP is even more non-canon...

Watch the blu ray! It's stunning :)

I think if the Aliens are much easier to take down than in the films, this is a decent compromise for the sake of the game.

    CVG criticised this.

Also, +1 to whoever said the pulse rifle sound effect is a plus point. Absolutely awesome.

It depends on what version of A3 you watch, i think one he is an android and one he is human IIRC

@onestepfromlost There's only one true version of Alien³ and it's not the one FOX butchered for a theatrical release ;)

@Ultrasoundwave From Wikipedia (believe if you will)

Aliens: Colonial Marines features a campaign with dynamic drop-in/drop-out cooperative multiplayer for up to 4 players online or 2 players locally via split screen.[17] Competitive multiplayer has been confirmed, and Gearbox has shown Aliens vs Marines team deathmatch 6 v 6 gameplay, as well as a 4 v 4 objective mode called Escape, where the marines team must reach an evac point while the alien team must hunt and stop them. Gearbox has said that there are other multiple "objective based modes" that have not been announced yet

Apparently a "Hoard" mode kinda confirmed to follow at some point according to the Gearbox guy in the IGN vid

I know, can't see it being great in hoard mode myself, but I like beers and gears modes co-op with your mates, rather than the L4D modes.

You never know they might be innovative (lives in eternal cloud cuckoo land)

Just pre-ordered this on Steam and hope it's not a mistake. I did enjoy AvP multiplayer but the SP was a bit poor, okay but not great. The main thing that worries me is the Tuesday morning review embargo. Call me cynical but i always expect the worse when a review comes out on the day of release. I'll still enjoy it as it's Aliens but i think we deserve another great Aliens game.

I want to play AvP now....

    @Gruff

    Cheers mate.

I think the key phrase when it comes to this game is "hope for the best, prepare for the worst".

Really hope its good but early indications are worrying.....

I just can't bring myself to preorder this until I see positive rewiews. Hope it's not one of these better playing co op garbage, I'm a one man army.

I'll be waiting anyway because i want the Wii-U version. Works out well for me. Read the reviews while i wait for the release and then when it's time to decide there may be a sale on the PC version to tempt me.

    Win-Win :)

Yeah I'm sticking with it. Fuck it, the graphics look ok. And the description of the game, backtracking over the same section sounds a bit like doom 3 to me, which didn't review well, but I still enjoy.

I've budgeted the thirty quid now anyway so in a way it's a free game.

I can't remember what they were like in Resurrection, but in Aliens it literally took only a couple of AR rounds to down them.

So that's a really strange criticism from CVG, unless we can actually now kill them using harsh language...

I think the main criticism was that the game didn't achieve the same tension that the films did. So the aliens aren't as perceptively dangerous.

I remember that in Aliens they weren't allowed to use the weapons because of the reactor; I wasn't aware that they ever engaged with the pulse rifle?

Not that I know the films religiously well so I could be wrong tbh.

They flouted the 'don't shoot' orders as soon as the xenos started peeling from the walls.

The Pulse Rifle firing noise was mostly the only memorable sound effect from the whole film. Mostly. So it was definitely used a lot to kill xenos.

Frost had the pulse rifle mags and he accidentally got set on fire, most of the gunfire when they're escaping from under the reactor is from Vasquez and Drake with their smart guns (Vasquez has a couple of mags stashed and she gives one to Drake) and Hicks's shotgun.

Most of the pulse rifle versus xeno action is in the control room.

the pulse rifle is used in the fight in operations, the evac from there through the vents, then ripley uses it going after newt, but i know what you mean, I dont think one is even fired until the fight in operations. Maybe one of them fires one drake fires at newt.

EDIT: and as whizzo said the fight under the reactor is almost exclusivly smart gun fire, as all the ammo clips went boom

I think they could still be fun enemies to fight, In my mind they would work like Skags in Borderlands 2.

I hope there's a Harsh Language skill where you can just call the aliens cunts until they run away crying.

I hope there's a playable character called Wierzbowski that you never actually see in game.
