I was thinking, there was a time when our first game under a new manager was really exciting. It wasn’t even that long ago, think back to the start of the Sven era.

I put it you that McClaren has ruined English football, he has sapped the last dregs of excitement we were able to muster over the international game.

Well, we should not accept this. Tonight marks the start of a glorious era, of a time we will tell our children about, a time when we can say “When Gerrard went up to lift the World Cup – WE WERE THERE!!”

So don’t let the grumpy ginger win. Don’t let him ruin what was once something we all cared about. Whether Man U or Liverpool, Spurs or the Red/Blue Scum. WE ARE ALL ENGLAND, COME ON!!!

Friendlies under Sven were dire too, losing to Australia was unforgivable.

I put it to you that the better the Premiership gets, the more shit internationals are to watch.

Perhaps this, in combination with the McClaren effect, is contributing?

    Come on Switzerland!! \0/

I hate Crapello and his brand of football. Sadly he'll probably get you some results and then everybody will like him..

Maybe, but only in small part I think. We are mostly just completely disillusioned.

I'm also a bit meh towards the England football team, i can't stand 90% of the players at all.

and part of me wants swiss tony to have a great first game as capitan

however i will do england the respect of watching their game tonight rather than ignoring them like i used to under mclown

I may have told this before:

I painted my face in a St George's cross for a friendly against Chille u21s many a year ago and scared the crap out of the usual chavs in the local.

That's the passion I used to have for England.

    Now? Meh.

It went before McClaren but he put the final nail in the coffin.

I lurk. If I've spoken to you, I'm either impassioned, or drunk.

Those Hamilton shenanigans the other day whipped up some patriotism in me, or at least a hesitant "we're not a racist country, at least not any more, are we?" kind of patriotism. I guess at least when we win it's a victory for multi-culturalism.

This is still going to be boring and embarrassing. Just looking forward to Pearce running on the pitch and head butting everyone one of the lazy fuckers for not trying.

I've never heard a bigger load of shite than what those tosser's on the BBC have just said before the match; after a few games they'll all be saying "Crapello." "It's a friendly against Switzerland FFS."

Ha, blizeH just won me a tenner. Fiver that I'd be quoted but changed to 'God Gerrard's irritating', and fiver that the double 'is' was left in :D

LB, you really are a massive geek.
