Yep, I think globalisation and how the internet has internationalised transactions so that large companies can essentially choose where in the world they pay tax to suit themselves, we are going to need international solutions to so many problems,. So to think we can be insular and close our borders seems pretty short sighted.

My instinct is we need to cooperate not withdraw.

I see that Iain Paisley Jr is on tonight.

    Expect some casual homophobia then...

    I know!

And it looks like my prediction was right.

Ian Paisley: "I'm not homophobic, I have no problems with gay relationships"
Dimbleby: "But you're on the record saying that you think gay people are immoral, obnoxious and repulsive"
Ian Paisley: "Yes, I am entitled to those views."

    Erm...

Nice to see him just getting absolute fucking owned by an audience and a panel member.

    Hang on, WHAT?

"Trying to say marriage should be allowed for gay people is like saying dogs should be redefined to include cats"

That makes no fucking sense whatsoever.

I have to say the belfast audience are good, good questions and points being made, and in general the panel are disscussing things.

I guess they are more used to having serious and immeadiate issues to discuss on a regular basis than we are. / more engaged with there political system then we are.

Yeah, +1 to the audience in Belfast.

Anywhere in England and the audience are full of spuds.

How many times will some kind of variation on "you're entitled to your own opinion" be rehashed over tonight's program?

Also, Ian Paisley Jnr is an absolute prize prick. An opinion I am entitled to hold.

And don't forget the incredulity at the concept of the idea of Man + Man being equal to Man + Woman

The world is going mad. Me? I'm doing fine.

Yesterdays episode with an audience largely made up of thick teenagers was terrible and an argument, if any was needed why sixteen year olds shouldn't have the vote.

It was terrible. So much booing. I did enjoy hearing that lad earnestly insist that Scottish people are routinely attacked when they go to England.

Any programme that allows George Galloway to appear sensible has a few screws loose.

You only have to talk to a sixteen-year-old to see why they shouldn't have the vote. QT was a farce last night. That graph is fascinating. Eight appearances for Farage is such a short time - WTF!?

Boris Johnson says please don't have an orgy of banker-bashing, ordinary people on modest salaries depend on the city too. Brand says an orgy would be great, but also to bang up anyone who made a load out of money out of it, because they're probably behind it. Good old Boris nods his head all the way through this.

Oh Melanie Oldbag is on too. Ugh.

    @Bremenacht

I finally caught up with this last night on iPlayer as I was out when Question Time was on.

Melanie Phillips was perfectly fine until she spontaneously and quite suddenly mentioned the whole hoo-ha over Iran ... did she even hear herself, about what she was saying?

Slightly ironic that the last question, which they ran out of time for, was about who has more appeal between 'pop stars' and 'politicians' ... because this particular Question Time was the fourth most popular programme on iPlayer when I started watching it, clearly for Russell Brands influence, a shy over two days later. A rarity for a programme like this.

He even cheekily smiled when the question was read out too.

Just watched the episode. I was left speechless by Melanie Phillips' tirade; I know the Mail employs hateful individuals, but is that level of lunacy really acceptable? And the way she admonished the audience for booing her comments and labelling the British as 'defeatist' was appalling.

Brand was mildly amusing, but that type of show really isn't for him.

Boris was Boris; I don't know how he was voted in as Mayor twice.
