I'm off travelling europe again in may until july and we were gonna start in denmark (flights from scotland) as it's high up in europe and we can work our way around until we hit france and fly from there, usually cheap ... we left from some little place before... had to sleep rough the night before we flew though as they didn't put taxis on past midnight!!!

anyway, is there much to see and do in denmark? and more particular... copenhagen? Considering we're all in our early 20s...

New Year's Eve there was awesome (few years ago).

Either side of that we went to Helsing0r (Elsinore castle of Hamlet fame, kinda), Roskilde (Viking ships, cathedral).

Things we didn't manage to do was the Carlsberg brewery tour, and a trip round the hippy country of Christiania (sp?)

Move along, nothing to see here..

I live in Copenhagen, and I honestly don't know why tourists bother coming here. Christiania is a popular place though (people go there to buy weed and other funny stuff).

Not really.. It's closer to England and Germany than Sweden! Look for Billund in google maps or so..

Eh? Where does Sweden come into it? :/

Sadly I recognise it only as a nice settlement to have in Total War. :)

Gonna have to +1 that. It is fairly nice in the summer when everything is green, the sky is blue and the birds semi-naked, but Denmark in the winter/spring/autumn = shit.

Norway and Sweden are only fun if you like mosquitoes, trees and rocks, whereas Finland is full of absolutely insane people. And lots of vodka.

I think there's more (bigger/better) nature experiences to be found in Sweden, Norway and Finland. They have fjords and stuff.. Mountain areas even. We have a few hills in comparison..

It's not that it's not nice here at times, it's just not somewhere I would go to see 'something'..

The only reason to go to Copenhagen is to buy cheep bear, and themn return to Sweden. Otherwise it's mostly a city for heroinists.

Tivoli and the % of beautiful women compared to that of the UK will most likely make your jaw drop.

I just got back from Copenhagen. Damn cold but the beautiful women are still beautiful.

Me & the gf popped into Christiania yesterday, dark gloomy skies and men standing around fire barrels. It was Stalker's Rostok all over. I was a little giddy, gf not so much.

I love Copenhagen. Just a nice town to have a wander around. There's that big Opera building you can go see. Nyhaven, with around this time of year a big outdoor skating circle nearby. Tivoli is lovely although I guess better in summer. Good pubs though.
You should all drink Calrsberg Elephant and nothing else when you're there. It's an automatic good time for all. :-)

The Opera house was beautiful, we were on the other side of the frozen harbour. Cracking day, sun was out and the gf said 'yes' :-)

Tivoli was closed for the winter, repairs i guess. We popped into one dreadful pub near the main square - The Scottish Pub. For 90kr you could buy a 'party' .. or in other words - a bottle of whisky.

Went to Copenhagen for a long weekend about 15 years ago. I seem to remember just wandering around the town centre for a bit, then we booked onto an overnight boat trip to an island (Born, I think it was called - weird churches that looked like oast houses), spent the day walking around there, then got the boat back again.

We were in our 30's and liked walking, so this may not appeal to youngsters.

Don't. It's way out by the harbour, so it's quite a trek and once you get there you'll go "oh, is that all. It's a lot smaller than I thought". And then you walk the whole way back again.

The boat trip is pretty excellent. Not one for the weak of stomach though :-)

You are a factory of sadness.
