Amazon must have known that Blerk had warned me off, that evening I saw an email confirming shipment shortly after the post. Sneaky.|
For some reason Project Zero 2 still didn't arrive till today, I've had games from the United States and Japan arrive more promptly.
The game is already doing what it was designed to do. I'm scared. Scared to break the seal. Growing terror at the prospect of impending motion control shittiness forced me to hide Project Zero in the bottom desk draw.
If only there was a lock, I'd feel safer.

Well, look on the bright side - it can't be worse than the defecation porn that some fucktard posted in this thread yesterday. Probably.
Just your average hardcore Nintendo fan I bet. I've always suspected they're into sickening and bizarre practices.
Well, they always seem to be perfectly happy to let Nintendo shit on them, so....
Bought this on Friday, but haven't had a chance to play it yet... reading this thread is actually putting me off!

Really sad to hear the controls and voiceover suck.
Is there nothing worse than a good game fucked up by moronic decisions such as not leaving the original VO? or control options.

The review has me oddly tempted despite the shit controls..
Why in God's name didn't they use the obvious wii point to look/turn/aim controls FFS.

@Rusty_M the Xbox version of Project Zero II does indeed work on the Xbox 360, and it seems to work pretty well too.
Back to the ps2 ones then I guess
Yet another chance shatted down the toilet of buffoonery

Finally gave this a try and...yes, these controls are a strange idea and it made no sense to do it this way, but you do get used to it and the game becomes playable. It's far from ideal though.
I don't understand the hate for the voiceover, it's not better or worse, it's just British. Granted, it's Hugh Grant accent, but that's because it's the accent easiest for the World at large to understand. Again, it wasn't really necessary. There are some parts that are clearer now - Mayu's monochrome solo jaunts now have a voiceover that's not smeared to death by reverb - but I wish they could have just 'remastered' the original voices. Mayu's fragile deadpan delivery was chilling. You got the sense that she was frightened and spellbound and possessed and resigned to her fate all at once.
Also finally got around to starting this, and I've got to say, I'm finding it really quite enjoyable, despite the obviously hamstrung controls (to be honest, it's something I'm almost used to on Wii).
The game absolutely oozes atmosphere, and I really like the art direction too. The only thing I'm not too keen on, and this seems to be a common theme, is the VO. It's not game-ruining, but it definitely jars against the backdrop of the rest of the game.
It's given me a few frights so far and I'm a few hours in; if the rest of the game maintains the same sense of foreboding and atmosphere, I think I'll really enjoy it, particularly with (cliche alert) the lights out after dark.
I'm still going to have to get it, aren't I
No, you really don't. Not if you have the PS2 versions, which I think you do?
I do. But it's new. I want it!
I would laugh. If I weren't the same way.
I'm firmly sticking to the PS2 versions I have.

I've never played the previous versions but stuck the wii version on last night and I'm loving it so far. Maybe it's a case of not knowing better but I love the atmosphere and as for the controls, I kinda expect near broken controls on a survival horror game.
Has anyone managed to get fatal frame 4 working with the translation patch?
I finally got round to getting the files and fired up my wii at the weekend with the intention of playing it.
And like a Massive Fucking Twat, I was oblivious to the wii saying, "Hey, there's a system update, fancy installing it?"
And I did. Like a Massive Fucking Twat.
So I'm now on 4.3E
Apparently, you can only install it onto 4.3 if you can get the homebrew channel on. But I believe you need something like Super Smash Bros or Lego indiana Jones to get that up and running.
Lego Jones is about £12.
Before I make yet another Massive Fucking Twat move and buy something that I may not need, has anyone got it up and running on 4.3, and if so, how did you do it? Googling it is making me want to bash my head against a brick wall as it's just a convoluted mess of random ideas
