    I couldn't get my copy of this to work on Vista, so I ordered the playstation version for my ps2. Perfect, yes?! But the opening cutscene is UBER glitchy, it skips and the sound is all distorted etc. And then the guys won't get off the train at the end of the cutscene - it just freezes.

    I thought console games were just meant to work! Did I just get unlucky with a shitty disc or is this some other problem anyone has heard of?

    Sounds b0rk3d. My PSOne version works fine in my PS2.

    mine worked too, sounds like its a crap disc

    Have you tried disabling the texture smoothing and 'quick loading' options in the PS2 menu? It probably won't make any difference but it's worth a try......

    Just had a look and they are already both on Standard, but thanks for the suggestion :)

    My PS2 has stopped loading all my PSOne Final Fantasies altogether. :'(

    I'm selling stuff at the moment to buy a PSP and I own 2 copies of Final Fantasy VII. You could buy one of those if you want!?

    Thanks for the offer Timmy - for now though I'd rather wait to hear from the company I bought it off to see if I can get a refund/replacement etc before committing to buying another. I will make a mental note and if you haven't sold them by the time I know I'll get back to you :)

    If you have problems getting it replaced/refunded by the seller then let me know. I actually have a spare copy of final fantasy vii at home (it's the g-friends)

    So I could send it to you if you pm me your address.

    I would recommend trying the disc in another PS2.

    The disc drives on the PS2's are not the greatest and can struggle when a disc changes spead which would happen when a cut scene starts.

    Ignore that and defend/use potions. Mistranslation at its finest.

    Not so much a mistranslation as unclear grammar really. Could have done with "and" instead of a comma.

    That boss was the bane of my exsistence as a 9 year old because of that. I was stuck on it for about 3 weeks.

    Spend time getting your head around the materia system. It hides an amazing level of depth and customisation.

    (and use healing magic against undead. One boss in particular can be killed simply by casting a Life spell on it at the very start).

    Yeah man. Drink it in. I wish I could forget everything about the game and go in fresh. Really is a grand experience first time around.

    Oh, a proper piece of advice too;

    Buy as many Hyper Potions as soon as possible and use one on each of your characters so they have the Fury status. Your Limit Break bar will build a lot faster.

    Well the game does have a quest where you have to dress up as a woman. And Cloud can go on a date with Barret.

    I have some experience with Final Fantasy games. I finished Final Fantasy VIII many years ago, so I'm hoping I won't be too lost.

    You can dress up in drag in the game, so I'd say that is a given. Bit of implied beastiality thrown in there too for good measure.
