Zambia started really brightly but they don't seem to want to commit to pushing up on goal. Their manager Fabio seems pretty cross, but I think they've done pretty well to disrupt Ivory Coast.

Drogba is being a bit of a dick though.

A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.

I thought the ref had been pretty anonymous, which is good.

Come on Kennedy Mweene! You've been awesome so far.

The first 7 penalty takers of both teams scored...

Ivory Coast didn't concede a goal in the whole tourney and still lost. Got future pub quiz question all over it.

They had all clearly practiced to aim for the top corners. As more penalties were taken, the spot got torn up, which makes high aimed penalties a lot more unpredictable.

Yeah and quite a few were ballooned away to fuck. Gervinho's probably still hasn't landed.

That was brilliant. Zambia were all so cool under pressure, very impressed. Mweene had a great game, he's like a brave brick shithouse.

Zambia looked amazing on the counter-attack in every game they played, glad they won.

    Great stuff.
Happy for Zambia but still feel a bit sad for the 'golden generation' from the Ivory Coast.

Katongo was great but how can you not award Mweene the man of the match trophy?

Anybody that's watched even one game of Arsenal football this year couldn't have possibly believed Gervinho could have scored from that far out.

Zambia winning is one of the most positive stories in the history of football if you ask me. I'm delighted for them.

That was the best thing I've seen for ages. Herve Renard; what a guy!

Also, Gervinho was blatantly terrified, everyone could see it. Why didn't they get the keeper to take one instead?

The mere fact that Gervinho was the 9th penalty taker for them said it all. The people who don't want to take the pens aren't going to put their hands up to go first.

Talking of which, Tiote went first for Ivocy Coast which in the context of what I said above is a positive thing for me personally.
