Should be fine then. You get 24 hours or so to watch it I think.

The film streamed fine if anyone is interested. Think I may have used my monthly data in one hit though. The internet has been running like a dog since

Registered 6 years agoWhat does XBMC do exactly? The 360 and PS3 already stream avi files which is the majority of video content, what else is needed?

Registered 7 years agoXBMC contains a media library so it can scrape covers, fan art and movie/tv info. Take a look at this for instance: alaska skin.
So rather than dropping through a folder structure looking for a file called myRipped.TV.Series.S03E14.TGRinDaHouse.Rip.Divx.avi you can view by movie, genre, year, tv series, imdb rating. A lot neater.
It's also pretty happy streaming video from net sources. TED talks and NASA tv are among my favourites but there's a heap more.
I haven't used the 360 but the PS3 interface is pretty terrible in comparison to xbmc. I can take the file/folder view - that's ok but it's the long pauses as you scroll down that's infuriating. Snoozey.bf3: sergeant_shaftoe

Thinking of getting an Apple TV to put XBMC on, as the Panasonic Viera I just bought only supports DLNA which is pretty poor in comparison.
So can anyone confirm that with an Apple TV 2 I can install XBMC and stream all manner of DivX, XviD and MKV in SD and HD over the network using home network plugs? I realise that for 1080p I need one of those Crystal plugin card thingies. -
yes.
Crystal HD is for ATV1 -
Aah, so does ATV2 support 1080p out of the box?

It has a new battery. And comes with the charger etc. All boxed. Wife prefers the 555 still! Can't win sometimes -
Hmmm, won't have that sort of cash till the end of the month, I'm certainly interested though!

there's only a guy on Av Forums I've spoken to, but doubt he will, so if not, you'll be next in line! -
Heh. Went out at lunchtime and bought an Apple TV2, just jailbroke it using Greenpoison and XBMC is in the middle of installing.
Amazing. -

HA, there's a fix for the apple updater prompt. Very useful as you're probably running on non-latest iOS.bf3: sergeant_shaftoe

The unboxing for me is a special moment, the thought that goes into it is amazing. Little things like finger holes to slide out sections and finger grabs on the cellophane wrapping. Hell, even the power cable is wrapped perfectly neatly into a liquorice swirl!
Anyway, only picked this up yesterday (£60 from Amazon with vouchers) and had a brief playaround. You cannot fault the build quality of this device. It just feels a nice sturdy piece of engineering. Silent operation as well, which was a big draw for me.
And the remote, well what a gorgeous piece of brushed steel. Worth mentioning the free Remote app on the store for the Touch/iPhone is great for navigation purposes plus keyboard entry as well.
At the moment, this is simply a YouTube, Podcast, 720p trailer viewing device for me. Don't think I'll be renting any movies from them unless I can't find a particular movie elsewhere. I'll be looking to jailbreak it later on today as that Aeon Stark skin just looks sublime.
Very pleased with it so far - if xbmc goes as well as others have mentioned I could look to pick a few more up. -
