One of my fave times of the year.

Just nipped to M&S store and got some ready-made mix, maple syrup and lemons.

So don't forget kids, otherwise you'll miss out on the chance to pig out!

    Tsk, you guys honestly...

    Best Pancake Recipe EVAR!
    -------------------------

    3 eggs, beaten
    1/2 pint of milk
    6 oz plain flour
    teaspoonful of olive oil

Whack that lot together in a liquidiser or better still, just shove it in a plastic bottle and shake vigorously (this way it'll keep in the fridge and you can just decant it straight from the bottle as and when you need it, y'see!)

Heat some oil in a pan until it begins to smoke, pour on the mixture and spread round the pan by tilting it.

Give it about 10-15 seconds (depending on how well done you like 'em!) then either flip it (if your pan is well greased enough it should be easy) or take the "wusses way out" which is, slide the pancake out onto a plate, hold the plate over a pan, flip the plate over the pan and drop the uncooked pancake side back into the pan!)

Best serving suggestion - whack on some maple syrup, juicy sultanas and a generous squeeze of lemon or lime juice.

    Bonza!

    Errrr, giving things up?

Remember, if you give something up you can still do it on Sundays. Just pick something you only do on a Sunday and you've cheated your way through Lent!

Peejay, could you be a sweetie and convert that recipe to metric units? You know, for us that have moved on to a "new world"-style measurement nomenclature.

    Ta!
Pancakes belong safe and sound in the 'old world', measured in 'old world' measurements. I'm told people in your 'new world' eat crepes...

    Ta!

    Pfft!

    Metric units.

    Er, milk - 2/5ths of a litre
    Flour - 200g
Eggs - Er, about the circumference of a distended chicken's vulva should do...

1/2 a pint of milk is not 2/5's of a litre (I think)

    It's more like 284 ml.

    edit: and 6oz is more like 170g than 200. (1lb = 16oz = 454g)

Cheers Sheepfish, you fell into my sneaky trap. Saved me the bother of converting it meself...!

    So to recap

    284ml of milk

    170g of flour

Chicken egg size remains universal I think.

The more I think about eggs the less I like 'em.

Weird though. I'm allergic to chicken but not to eggs, how does that work then?

    Good sounding recipe Peej, thanks.
Everything except the sultanas, because sultanas are rubbish.
The g/f is working tonight, so i'll have to attempt them myself. Could be interesting...
