Yeah yeah, I know these are probably bullshots but...

    ooh!

I ended up rather liking Just Cause, with its weird cross between Boiling Point and Far Cry type stuff. Glad there's a sequel in the offing though hopefully it won't be a PS3 exclusive...

perhaps I did something wrong, but I hated Just Cause. i had high expectations and was totally disapointed. I played it for two evening for about 4 hours each, turned it off and never touched it again.

But I'm willing to give the sequel a chance.

I cant wait for this. Loved Just Cause. With any luck this should improve on its faults and be something a bit special.

    Ooo does look nice.

Looking forward to this as I also really liked Just Cause. Once you got past the slighty shonky combat and got into exploring the island it was really quite a game.

the second dam shot was an obvious pre-render.

but yeah i hope they sort alot of the first games downfalls.

perhaps I was in the wrong mood for that game at that time. weird, everyone loves it and I don't understand why. Well it was the same with Splinter Cell 1.
Normally I don't have bad taste;-))

It wasn't perfect by any means, some of the vehicle handling was actually WORSE than Boiling Points which really is saying something. It was just balls out no-brainer fun.

Just Cause was a very silly game that didn't take itself too seriously, it was probably hampered a bit from being a PS2 game to start with although the 360 version looked pretty lovely. The PC version was a bit pants though as it seemed to just be a port of the PS2 original.

I wanted to like Just Cause, probably would have, if the main character's running animation didn't make him look like he had the bumsquirts and was desperately clenching to prevent embarrassment.

I rather liked Just Cause; I suppose I just love games that give you a great big environment to fly around in.

Erm, have they removed the screenies? As I can't see them.

shots look quite convincing to me, obviously touched up and staged somewhat (the smoke effect on the bazooka for example), but they seem to be genuine.

Same here. I thought I'm just a bit slow.

The vegetation and water are almost uncharted quality...too much to ask for a free roaming game? I guess Crysis managed huge swathes of vegetation pretty well.

Seem fairly genuine to me, the smoke does look far too good though.

The vegetation looked pretty okay in the first game but the catch was that there was no interaction with it: trees could stand a nuclear blast and bushes were non-clipping.

I think those shots are 'target renders'.

Ooooh, looks super pretty, and I loved the first one. Just hope they do put some interactions with the tress in as (noted below) the trees in the first one were nothing more than thin poles that had a binary effect - you've either twatted your car straight into it and stopped dead, or missed it by an inch and the tree hasn;t moved at all, even though you've plowed through the foliage.

Hope there are one or two locations where they put a bit of time in the environments, the cities in the first one were all square built identikit models.

Nice new E3 trailer on this one to show its still alive.

The engine is looking very nice for the large scale environments. Some of the up close stuff does not look quite as impressive though.

Am I the only one that thought they completly nicked the grappling arm idea from Bionic Commando?

Although oddly I think this looks better than BC:R 3D.

    Portable view - Never forget.

Well the first game did have the grapple but only for attaching to vehicles. I immediately thought of Bionic commando when he grappled a solider using it though so this new variation on its use definitely looks to be nicked from Bionic commando to my eye.

Dragging a solider behind your vehicle on the grapple line looks to be an original feature though :)
