The offspring's fav games on the PS2 were the three Sly Racoon jumpy platformer things.

Has anybody heard any noises about a PS3 itteration?

    Ta, hail Satan etc

the Sly2 on PS2 was so repetitive, that I could of puked, but perhaps if they do a new one it could be good again. I don't know if I still would enjoy that genre much.

to answer your questions, no, I haven't heard anythign about it yet.

Thanks for all the news/updates on Sly/PS3

For my two pence worth, I must say I agree with the kids, I think all three of the Sly games are ace (OK the 2nd is perhaps a little easy).

The 3rd is worth picking up for the sea battle stage alone...

I'd love a new Sly game but the third installment, as I recall, ended quite conclusively. I'm sure Sucker Punch could backtrack but it had an air of finality about it.

They certainly left themselves a way out in Sly 3, so if they wanted to revive the series I'm sure they could.

Excellent games, Ratchet & Clank plus Jax & Daxter were rightly praised for being great platformers on the PS2 but for some reason the Sly Cooper series never really hit those heights but for me they were as good is not slightly better than the aforementioned. They looked great too.

Oh, coz, this more than makes up for you posting that video on Youtube of your Rufus pummelling my Deejay. Bless you.

Were Jak and Ratchet more popular franchises than Sly? For me Sly had more character and style than both the others put together. It went a bit too far with the action-adventure elements in Sly 3, I think, but even that was great fun.

    :D

It does seem odd that they've chosen Sly for this treatment ahead of Jak and Ratchet. I thought the latter two were more Sony's darlings. Are there any Jak or Ratchet sequels imminent? I don't follow them 'cos I'm not a fan.

Perhaps Sucker Punch just have more sway now with the success of Infamous... Here's hoping they announce Sly 4 today too :D

I'm feeling a bit annoyed with myself. I played all three games again back to back about a month ago.

I wish I'd known, then I would have waited.

I hope they use this opportunity to fix a niggle I've always had, character sizes and proportions are not treated consistently. In the third game they made Sly smaller than anybody aside from Bently and Penelope so you now have a returning character who was shorter than Sly in the first game suddenly twice as tall as Sly in the third game.

Yeah, I know. Issues with scale, proportion and consistency really bug me.

Bently was constructing a time machine at the end of the third game so they could do anything with the plot from here on such as an adventure played behind the scenes of the previous games making sure Bently never ends up in a wheelchair for instance.

I wouldn't throw away your copies of the originals just yet.

People playing the already released US version have been reporting problems. A problem with audio synching makes one boss battle in particular on the first game rather difficult because it's a rhythm action based section and the action and the audio cues aren't matching up.

All in all it's not a good buy if you've got a backwards compatible PS3 which can run the originals without the all new remastered glitches.

    Could that not be patched?

I sold my PS2 copies a while back. Oops.

It's a common problem when old games get ported, I don't recall it ever getting patched out in prior offending cases.

It's trying to handle audio as the PS2 did but their solution isn't quite 100% right, audio is notoriously tricky, with graphics it's plain to see it's screwed up audio glitches are always the ones that get through in 'remasterings'.

The most insignificant changes in timing can make something like Parappa the Rapper very difficult to play. That's my excuse for why I'm so terrible, it's the PS2's fault! I'm sticking with it. :-)

Don't we want separate threads? I thought the whole point was that the three games were coming out as a package on their own.

I've turned off all the avatars and crap, so don't expect me to be impressed by yours.

One compilation of the PS2 games, and this being teased at. So it will be a separate release.
