    *revives topic back*

It seems we have a new trailer for Persona 4 (or the proper opening). Like the look of the characters, but a bit iffy on the Arcana coming back.

    http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=ko3EC5RvMIw

    The music is addictive though...

That really got me in the mood to play that game - I wonder how long we'll have to wait?

Hopefully next year for the Americans (and it can't hurt to hope that the brits get it)

Some new details from an interview -

-Persona 4 will have some nice little in-jokes for players of Persona 3, but will otherwise not require knowledge of the story in Persona 3 to play, having its own story

-part of the reason they put the game in the country is not only to increase the suspense and mystery factor, but so they could portray the two sides of modern country towns (i.e. the positive, rustic and pastoral side, and the negative, run-down business-closing, franchise-eating side)

-Elizabeth may appear in Persona 4 as a relation to Margaret's story with Igor

-the battle will now work like the Dragon Quest IV remake, that is, you can choose between AI and commanding party members on your own

-The motive for searching each of the dungeons (there will be different ones) is to search for missing people in the long serial killer case. Above is a spoiler for the motive the party members have of going to the dungeons. Part of that motive will reflect in the dungeon layout with pieces and gimmicks that go with the theme. They're making less and smaller dungeon levels, with more to do in them and giving the party the ability escape at any time and go back to the highest floor memorized.

-Spoilers on how the multiple endings are organizedthere will be a bad end if the player fails, but since it has to do with multiple serial murders, based on that, the endings will further fragment, but the player will not have to replay the whole game to see them.

-The relationship commu can split in different directions (like in end in friendship or romance now).

Very interesting stuff. When is it coming out in Japan? Since it's not already out I guess there's no chance it'll come out in the US this year.

I can remember how, in Breath of Fire 3, the ONLY thing I liked about the game (beside the graphics) was the fishing minigame, which was all kinds of awesome and is still the best fishing minigame ever.

I hope they put you in full control of your teammates because the your team AI in P3 was completely retarded.

*everybody in your party is below 50% health, mediaran would heal us all, allowing for an easy win*

*Yukari uses her bow and arrow*

    *jaw drops to the floor*

*enemy uses attack killing of the entire party*

See, what you did there was counter in what your team does. With P3 is just created my guy around covering every element in varying power with creations and having as many as I could be healers, basically making my dude a one man army as it wasn't even worth thinking about what they others will do.

The bow of magical fall over certainly is a little irritating.

Suffice to say once I had the option she was gone.

My problem with most games is that I take along people I like rather than the best characters for the combat situation.

The good thing about FFXII was that everyone was a blank slate so if you wanted Ashe as a healer she was one, or you could have her weilding double handed swords causing massive damage to enemy weak spots.

From JTN' post somewhat further up:

I quite like the AI to be honest, it's fairly unique.

At least your Yukari didn't get charmed and used Diarahan on the final boss with one fifth of it's energy to go...

Agreed... Imo, it makes it more of an RPG as you ARE the main character and your allie are there to help you.

Giving the option to control your allies in P4 kinda ruin the illusion that P3 has set.

They'll have to make the enemies harder, because if you can fully control everyone on your team you'll be a lot stronger.

I probably will as well. It makes the battles faster and, well, I like the occasional unpredictability of the AI. Most of the time, though, they were excellent.

I'll probably leave it turned on as well, as it does speed up the game considerably. I just need full control when fighting harder monsters and bosses.
