I started a thread for my Dad's birthday and UncleLou suggested Stalker, which my Dad loved.

Due to the resounding success of that thread I thought I would try it again, but for Christmas this time.

Any suggestions for a PC game for my dear old Dad's Christmas?

If he enjoyed Stalker then Bioshock sounds like a good shout.

Oblivion? Did he enjoy the gunplay of STALKER or the exploration?

Blimey, your Dad is obviously more "with-it" than mine!
My old Dad is happy with Microsoft Train Simulator & that's about it.

    I think he has Bioshock.

    Company of Heroes, maybe.

I think he has Silent Hunter III, is it worth considering 4?

He enjoyed both exploration and gunplay of STALKER.

You could try the call of duty series. Maybe start with COD or COD2.

    mediaeval total war 2

Yes I know it's not a first person shooter, but it's bloody good.

Is he a FPS only kind of guy? If not then maybe a Total War.

He's played them all, not sure about the latest one though. He is a bit of a WWII nut so it could be risky.

If he's a WWII nut, Company of Heroes, as already suggested, is probably a good idea. Tremendous game. Looks the business, too.

OrangeBox? assuming he hasn't tried HF2. Portal is supposed to be worth the purchase alone.

I think he has the original, opposing fronts worth a punt?

Yup, Opposing Fronts is great. Top campaign(s), just like in the original - maybe a bit easier, though.

Hmmmmm, don't know if he does.

Well if he doesn't, it's good. 4 very nice smaller campaigns that seem to each try something new/different.

Invisible War. It's not as bad as they say, and you can buy it for a fiver on budget.

I'd be surprised if he didn't already have it, he's a big Halflife fan.
