I am a gentleman, am kind, am happy and feel full of life.

... this, however, makes me feel unkind, unhappy and devoid of life:

Are you wealthy? Been avoiding unpaid train fares for a shy over five years? No problem. Just pay up and tell them to keep quiet.

    *feels angry*

Twitter’s American Airlines ‘terror threat’ 14-year-old girl arrested by police in Rotterdam

Part of me says they shouldn't take it too seriously, it is a 14 year old girl after all. But the other part of me says that at 14, she should know the consequences of sending a jokey bomb threat to a well known airline. She should also know that humour does not translate well over the internet and every tweet she makes is on a public forum.

It's a good lesson for her to learn. Her and her friends won't do something like that again.

Part of me lols that she blocked @fbi thinking it would somehow help avoid prosecution.

    South Korean Ferry Sinks

Wittnessed heard a loud thud and it went down in two hours. What chance it was sunk by a North Korean Torpedo?

I heard of a similar thing here. A guy killed a kid who was playing chicken. The emotional trauma of the incident ruined his life, too. He successfully sued the kids parents. An unpleasant experience all round really. I don't know what to think of it.

The world is going mad. Me? I'm doing fine.

To play devil's advocate for a second, I can understand it if the incident truly was the fault of the kids involved. In that situation, of course it's a tragedy for the child and their family, but it would be utterly wrong to suggest that the driver isn't a victim, and worthy of acknowledgement of the pain and distress caused - if not worthy of compensation. Imagine being unable to drive afterward, and how that would affect your life, all for an incident that is not your fault.

Most good home insurance (in the UK) covers this sort of thing for all family members, should their (legal) actions cause injury etc.

But from that article it sounds like it was her fault, and this is some over-the-top, and completely insensitive way of protesting her innocence.

I can't remember on which article I read but apparently she was seen drinking in a bar beforehand. Handy to have a police officer for a husband after you've mowed a few kids down.

I think it was in the comments. So if that's true, it's just callous.

It honestly makes me livid when I see people on the phone, or blatantly texting/Facebooking on their phone, while behind the wheel. I couldn't give two shits if their recklessness causes them harm, or even kills them, frankly. Crash into a tree, down a ditch, whatever - that's fine.

But you see them do it with kids in the back, or they're doing that while my wife's a passenger in my car as we pass by, or they'll pass another car with kids in - or any other car, for that matter. All the time they think they have the talent to avoid any potential situation, and the fact that they can't keep all four wheels between two white lines doesn't clue them in to the contrary. Arrogant, selfish assholes - properly upsets me.

Makes sense. Anything that old is guaranteed to never be hooked up to the internet, and stuff that old's probably built of discrete transistors so pretty much bomb-proof. I wonder where they're getting their supplies of 8-inch discs from - it's pretty hard to get any sort of floppy disc these days. I do hope they are replacing those discs periodically - plenty of my old 5.25 inch discs have been lost to the glue curing.

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

    Teacher Stabbed

A Catholic teacher is stabbed by her 14 year old student, school continues for the rest of the day and the news story hits all major news outlets across the country.

The same day a 21 year old film student throws herself onto the electrified train lines of the London DLR a day before a major essay deadline.

    No new outlets report it.

Does this say something about our education system, the pressures and stresses it creates on the students and teachers?

The media choosing only to report on gruesome murders and Paedophile court cases rather than suicidal students taking their lives over something as fickle as passing a test?

I know suicide isn't as prevalent here as it is in other countries but it is ignored by the media on a blanket scale, is it the only 'sin' that the media deem unworthy for the news?

Viacom is buying Channel 5. Hopefully they'll be doing something more interesting with it than Desmond's race to the bottom with celebrity fuelled garbage. Daily Show? Beavis and Butthead marathons?

Though they also own MTV so it could end being nothing but Cribs and My Super Sweet 16.

    The mystery of Webdriver Torso

Locked behind a 1.99 euro ($2.76; £1.63) paywall and only accessible if you're in France, is a clip from the cartoon series Aqua Teen Hunger Force, in which the show's three anthropomorphic fast-food items - Frylock, Meatwad and Master Shake - fail to win a pub quiz.
