Doomologist, you're right but in a more trivial way than you state. Our simple state of existence can be classified as time travel as we are constantly travelling in the future. Obviously this is not what is meant by time travel, which implies circumventing the normal passage of time in some way. Which being on a horse does not do.

Why, as in your theory, should time travel depend on movement in space, as well?

LB, you really are a massive geek.

You're not travelling in time, though. You're travelling relative to time as it is to someone stationary on Earth. Plus you'll be talking something like travelling relative to time as a fraction of a fraction of a fraction. I could work out the maths, but I'm just going to do a random guesstimate and say it would make 0.1x10^-1000s difference, which would eventually be offset by the fact that everything averages out due to differing altitudes. So jumping on a horse at an altitude of 100ft would probably be the same as just being at 105ft.
Except you are. Trust me, I've studied this since about thirty minutes ago. But you'll need proof:

If Person A and Person B want to go to Z (say 30 miles away) because some shop is giving away PS4s for free for the next hour and A is walking and B is in a car, then by the time A gets to Z the offer will have ended. < Proof :D

    You're wrong.
  • Deleted user 11 September 2013 15:51:56
That's not travelling in time, though. A and B are both at the exact same moment in time, just in different physical places. That's not the same as "spacetime", which is dependent on the observer (ie, relativity).

Yes, I'm being very pedantic about a throwaway joke post, but I don't care.

This is why you don't use a smartphone to submit a petition: "clearly chows", "he should be standing in court alone accused of all these murders." Lol.

Anyway how exactly does one get charged with 22 counts of murder when this is at most a case of vehicular manslaughter? Driver wasn't even drunk. Maybe the prosecutor is.

Politico's upgraded it to murder after public pressure as far as I can tell.

I don't understand where that petition gets ideas about an unsafe vehicle though - all I can find on the internet was regarding an unsecured load. Unsecured load doesn't make you run a red light at crazy speeds.

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

Yeah, there's a rumour about defective brakes or something.

This article mentions it briefly but doesn't elaborate.

So the Delhi rape gang have been sentenced to death:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-india-24078339

On the radio this morning they reported a UN study that said 1 in 4 men in the Asia Pacific region had admitted to raping a woman. That seems ridiculously high.

When you consider marital rape into the equation, then that figure is not surprising at all.

    Percentage of men admitting rape

Papua New Guinea Bougainville Island - 62%
    Indonesia Papua Province - 48.6%
    Indonesia urban - 26.2%
    China urban/rural - 22.2%
    Cambodia - 20.4%
    Indonesia rural - 19.5%
    Sri Lanka - 14.5%
    Bangladesh rural - 14.1%
    Bangladesh urban - 9.5%
    Source: United Nations

It seems the woman on the radio had taken the report a bit out of context, but that is still pretty worrying.

True. I wouldn't be surprised if the figure was vaguely similar worldwide, in that case.

I do wonder if they even have the right people. Seems a bit too convenient considering it would be like a needle in a haystack to find this lot in India. Find some bad guys, hang them. Settle down people.

Not a rigid way of life or system throughout. They can get away with it in these places most likely. Very sad.

To be honest if you analyse the lyrics to a lot of songs you can interpret them to mean whatever you want.

I still remember the MP who said Shakin Stevens song "what do you want to make those eyes at me for" was encouraging rape. You can see this truely shocking song on the below.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABEOBXZvX58

Be warned it's not for sensitive types. It's strong stuff.

They were talking about the actual question used on Radio 4 earlier and to be honest it doesn't sound anything like "rape" to me.

Was something along the lines of "have you ever had sex with your wife when she didn't really want to"... which I would assume is like 90% of married men.

    Hmm

That sort of logic would match with have you ever been forced to take the garbage out when you don't want to being asked of men.

In relationships people do things they don't feel like doing to please their partners. Has no man ever had sex with their partner when at the start they weren't in the mood.

It would be nice to think those situations were included but I suspect it's the just counting the times when the partner doesn't feel they have an option to refuse.

Unreasonable critique of Kant leads to man being shot in Russian shop

RIA news agency quoted police in the city of Rostov-on-Don as saying a fight broke out between two men as they argued over Kant, the German author of Critique of Pure Reason, without giving details of their debate.

"In the course of the fight, the suspect took out a pistol firing rubber bullets and fired several shots at his opponent," it said, adding that one man was detained and the victim was taken to hospital. His life was not in danger.
