1000 libraries to close. I guess in the face of a misguided tory government, it was inevitable. Article.
Fixed. Libraries have been, if anything, overused in the past 5 years or so and actually offer a lot better value for money that other public services.

Let's cut hundreds of thousands thousands of jobs. Oh, and public services that help those people to get new jobs.

It is shit that this has happened, BUT having worked for the library service of one particular London borough when I was younger I think there are some cases of branches that were totally pointless.

One particular branch that I worked at regularly had ridiculous opening hours that would confuse people (only open in the morning on Monday, afternoon to 7pm on Tuesday, not even open on Wednesday, etc.), and would only have about 10-20 customers a day because there were two much larger libraries very nearby with much better facilities.

Unsurprisingly that one was closed recently.

Gavin Henson gobbing off and getting sparked out by a teammate. Amazing punch, his hand is extended fending Henson off and he somehow manages to pull it back enough force into a slight hook to put Henson down.

I don't envy Henson at all. I've seen Fearns up close and the man is a beast, I wouldn't want to bump into him accidentally let alone get straight armed.

Brilliant stuff. He got sacked from Toulon for fighting a teammate, too. I bet he still insists it was the other persons fault.

Subway seems like a strange one. I don't trust them - every sandwich I get from there I think will be my last!

Not an article but just found what looks like a bit of a tree branch in my pot noodle. 1 strike rule when it comes to food so that's the last time I have one of them.

@Baihu1983 Yeh you should probably leaf them to one side now, it could be that there's an even more hideous root problem with the whole company.

Those stories always sound bizarre from the headline, but after listening you can sort of see it from the caller's point of view - they're in a bit of hassle and need assistance, and think the police will be able to sort it out. Maybe they've seen too many TV shows where police are called up to deal with mundane issues. Obviously they're not aware that 999 is for absolute emergencies only.

Although the prostitute one was rather stupid and funny.

Key Witness in Mob Trial Found Dead

"Stippo would not kill himself. Absolutely not,'' Davis told ABC News this morning. "He was looking forward to taking the stand. He told me over and over he had a big bombshell to drop. He had everything to live for and was looking forward to his day in court."

Davis - who lost his sister, brother and father to homicide, and whose daughter was killed in a drunk driver accident - was devastated by the news.

"It doesn't make sense,'' Davis said.

    Makes sense to me!
