I think all of Pirotic's points are grounded in fact, and I pretty much agree wholeheartedly. I bought Halo 3 for the co-op campaign. Finished that. Moved on. Excellent fun while it lasts, and I'm certainly going to go back for another play through.|
The multiplayer stuff, for all the glitz and razzamatazz feels very... similar to me. Played too many FPS online in my youth, I think, so it gets old quite fast (although that's an issue with me, not the game itself really).
And, having spent weekends lost in editors like DoomEd, the Build Engine, then Quake, then UnrealEd and most recently the Crysis Sandbox... Forge doesn't really offer me anything like the freedom the hyperbole would suggest or I would require to keep myself interested.
A very solid 8/10 for the bits I enjoyed, and the scope of the multiplayer (the web integration is genius) elevates that to a 9/10. Not a game of the year for me personally, although I have no doubt more than a few publications will have it in the running.
And now I must away, to finish painting my "CATAN FOR GotY" placard.
