VI and IX. VIII is good but it's a bit more marmite than those 2 (though it has the better card game).

If you're going to get Dissidia, skip the original and get duodecim for the extra £4 as it has the original Dissidia story embedded within (minus the brilliant Duel Coliseum).

Tactics is also supposed to be good but I lost interest after a while.

Mecho Wars is I think an Advance Wars style TBS; got it for free on the iPhone and never really played it.

According to a commenter on the news story, the UK ports are terrible and we should be looking for them on the US store instead. Not sure how to go about that though!

    Speak the truth hussy!

All are missable, except for the beautifully crafted masterpiece that is Final Fantasy IX.

I've not played 6, 7 or 8 so these deals are pretty interesting. I love 9 to bits as well, so i'd probably get that again too. Arrrgh too many gaaaames.

@THFourteen Yes to the second question (Media Go or PS3)

For the first, the PS1 games won't be playable at first but any of the PSP PSN games should be OK.

I'm guessing this is about the PS1 ports. Apparently the UK ones are locked to PAL 50hz, and the US ones aren't.

Really tempted by FF Tactics for £4. Cheaper than the iOS version, and superior too (apparently).

Thanks - I do own Tactics, but got bored of it after 10 or so hours due to the lack of real story. Tempted by IX and Dissidia, but surely 2 FF RPGs is enough and I'bve still got Persona 2 and Valkyrie Profile Lenneth waiting to be played!

Oh and 800 hours on Dissidia - seriously. I was pleased with my ~120 hours on Fallout 3, but this is waaaaayyyyy beyond that. Even on a best case scenario, I reckon it'll take me a year to get 800 hours in!!

By the way...on a flatscreen TV are these going to look so bad as to be nigh on unplayable?

I should mention at this point that I played 365 consecutive days of the original Dissidia :p. I've played about 306 consecutive days of duodecim. That stupid counter is the sole reason why my backlog is full of RPG's on the PSP :p

Very quick update this week as there's only one bit of new content to tell you about. That is Creat Studios' new mini, Mecho Wars, which seems to have gone through the wars itself.

Other than that, there's nothing new but do check out the HUGE Final Fantasy sale this week (and only this week) with all the PS1 classics reduced to £3.99. Go check it out :)

    Next Week
    Err...

    25th January 2012

[sarcasm]Well thanks guys[/sarcasm] - I'd just bought £25 of PSN credit to use on the Vita, and instead spend most of it last night on FFVII, FFIX and Dissidia 012

Still, that's a lot of gaming hours for £20!

Don't know - plus I'd be interested to hear Haway's opinion on whether this is still worth playing prior to the full game - doesn't it unlock a character or two?

It unlocks Aerith/Aeris as an Assist character - though she's not really any use to be honest (she stops characters in their tracks as opposed to raw damage dealing). Prologus gives you a good look at all the mechanics and items you gain from the prologue can be optionally transferred to the full game. You also get a new scenario that isn't in the full game.

If you're not willing to pay for the prologue, I believe the original Dissidia demo is still on the store, but some of the new gameplay mechanics will be missing (Assists being the main one). It's still a good barometer of whether you'd enjoy duodecim or not.
