Happy new year and welcome to the first PSP store update of 2012. Let's hope we can finish the games off before the end of the world.

Not entirely unexpectedly, the update is tiny this week. First of all, we have a new mini on the store with Tiny Hawk (not to be confused with Tony Hawk), which you can play at the link for nothing...

Today also sees the culmination of over 4 years of wishful thinking. That's right. Over 4 years ago, kissthestick asked for Wild Arms, back when this thread was only one page old. Finally, his (or her) wish has been granted and Wild Arms finally graces the European store.

There's also a new Studio theme out this week. Finally, this is your last call to grab some bargains from the PSP festive sale. Full details of the PSP items can be found in this post as SCEE have stupidly decided that it's not worth putting them under a banner on MediaGo.

    Next Week
I'm afraid it'll be pretty barren for a while :(

    3rd January 2012

    minis
    Tiny Hawk - £2.49

    PS1 games
    Wild Arms - £3.99

    Themes
Charlie's Awfully Big Adventure Game by Mr Bingo - £0.79

Talking about SCEE stupidity, have they fixed the PSP transfer bug for the 5 minis offer yet?

Also, I can't wait until all the people who are waiting for Arc the Lad finally play it only to realise it's quite a mediocre game.

The 5 minis offer is actually on the PSP store now - though I haven't tried it yet :p

Yes, but when I try to transfer the five games I bought from the PS3 to the PSP I get an error.

It only happens with the games bought on that special offer.

SCEE know about the problem, but as usual they're taking forever to solve it.

Edit: Oh, I guess I could download them directly on the PSP, is that what you meant?
But I don't have wireless (I use homeplugs instead)

Man, it's been so long since I used MediaGo, but I'll give it a try if I don't get an answer soon.

I guess I rely too much on my PS3 for PSP software :)

Still no Arc the Lad, and still can't download my minis to my PSP.

5 emails and 2 phone calls with Playstation helpline and still getting nowhere. This really is getting ridiculous.

The latest on the minis to PSP issue is that they're supplying download codes to you so you can download them to PSP.

Might be worth e-mailing them (if you're still in contact with someone) and telling them to refer to this link:

    Linky

Wouldn't hurt to strengthen your case for contacting them.

I might grab them on the PS3 myself and see if I have any issues...

What is disgusting is that after so many calls and emails Sony still haven't informed me of that. In fact, I got an email this afternoon that said "thanks for the most recent issue, a member of the management team will contact you shortly."

    Dear Mr Simmons,

Thanks for your e-mail about the PlayStation Network (PSN).

I'm sorry to hear that you’ve been having some problems with the PSN. I have passed your details to one of our management team who will be in touch shortly to discuss the matter with you.

In the meantime, if you have any other queries please call PlayStation Support on 0844 736 0595, quoting reference [number deleted], where one of our team will be happy to help you.

    Thank you,

    05/01/2012 10.25 AM

    Good morning,

Further to the complaint below I would like to raise two matters:

    1) On (I believe the 23 rd of December, but may have been the 24 th ) I purchased the minis bundle in the christmas sale on the PSN Store. I purchased these through my PS3. When I tried to download them to my PSP I was given a license error and was unable to do so. I then spent 25 minutes on the phone to Playstation support to no avail. No one there was able to help me and despite trying may different fixes no
resolution was available and I was told this was being refered to a specialist team. My phone number was taken and I was promised a call back. Two issues have annoyed me here. Firstly a look at the playstation blog shows that this was a known issue that was raised very quickly, long before I phoned up. I spent 25 minutes of my time and phone bill for an issue that was known, but obviously not passed to the support desk. If this had been passed along a simple “we are aware of the issue and apologise, but
we are looking into it.” Would have saved a lot of time on both my part and the helpdesks. Secondly, as yet I have had no response, despite being informed that although no definite timetable could be given for replies it should be within a few days.

Please note I am not complaining about the initial error, these things happen, I am however annoyed about the time wasted on a known issue and the lack of response.

    2) I also gave my phone number to expect a call back regarding the Arc the Lad issues
I outlined above. As yet no response has been forthcoming, and to add insult to injury the playstation blog has advertised it is now being available, but a look on the store shows me that it is now.

If someone could please respond to me in writing by email I would appreciate it. Unfortunately with my working hours phone calls are difficult to take, but I would appreciate a response. As before, my PSN ID is Ryandsimmons, with associated email address of [deleted]

    Kind regards

    Ryan
  • Deleted user 6 January 2012 18:49:33
MediaGo doesn't solve the problem by the way. Says that the offer can only be used on one PSP when I try to transfer, even though I can't use it on any!

Thanks for the link though Haway. I'll either call them or just play them on the PS3.

    Edit: SCEE are beyond useless

Yeah, not too enamoured with PSN myself after my account was blocked whilst I was trying to download TitS. I've now been told I have to wait a week before I can activate my account on the PSP again.

On the phone right now with support right now and they have never heard of codes apparently. I need to wait for head office to call me back.

    Well.

Start: They are looking into it, I should wait for a call back. I argue that it says on the blog they are giving away codes. They put me on hold.

10 minutes: Apparently it was already sorted, I should look in my services list. Did that, found I had a new free game offer, however it only works on new games, not any of the ones I already wanted.

15 minutes: They are still looking into it.

20 minutes: Still no idea, they are waiting for head office to call me back. I argue that head office has been promising to call me back since 23rd of december. Always saying it should be a day or two.

This is ridiculous. It is a known issue. Seriously reconsidering my Vita preorder at the moment. PSN seems to be getting worse and worse over the past few months. Whether it is games not working, missing content (every single week at least 2 games don't work or are missing) not to mention the usual little niggles like using white backgrounds and white text on some games making looking through the store a pain.

To be honest if this is not sorted tomorrow I will be installing CFW on my main PSP and downloading all the games I want. I have £200 odd of PSN stuff, and want to spend more, but the way it is going piracy is the simpler option, with the bonus that games actually work.

Considering the next few weeks are going to be barren for PSP owners, this can be considered a decent update - even though those at the EU Playstation Blog complain that the PSP is dead. Obviously minis don't exist to them.

This week sees 3 minis released on the store. First of all, there's Psycho Soldier and Victory Road from the SNK Playmore collection. There's also Trailblazer (I hope you appreciate this one because there was absolutely NOTHING online on this title except this), though I'd wait and see if there's a price check on this one as it seems quite overpriced...

There's also supposedly a Studio theme on the store but it's not there at the moment on the PS3 store and don't even get me started on MediaGo this week.

Finally, there's been a price drop on OpenEmotion's minis, with Ninjamurai, Mad Blocker Alpha and Revoltin' Youth all having price cuts today. All 3 are decent standard minis and worth a look over at OpenEmotion's website ;).

EDIT: Oh, and before I forget, I'll be at the Manchester Vita Room thingymabob on Saturday so if you're heading there that day, PM me! ;)

EDIT 2: Added Galaxy Fight, removed Trailblazer and Studio theme.

    Next Week
I believe a Stick Man mini...

    11th January 2012

    minis
    Psycho Soldier - £1.99
    Victory Road - £1.99

    PS1 imports
    Galaxy Fight (J) - £3.99

Well. Finally got a call back from support.

20 minutes later and they asked me to do the exact same fucking thing that they did the previous time I called them. That's around £3 of phone calls now, more than the original content cost me!

They still have no idea how to fix this, and just wasted more of my time.

Seriously debating Vita now. If this is how bad Sony is with digital I really don't know if I want such a digital download based console. And if I went USA I would be gutted about not having access to the hundreds of pounds of stuff on my EU account. Better just to cut my losses.

Not that anyone cares (at Sony) but the mini bundle is still broken.

I'm officially dropping off the EU store and moving to the US one.

Fucking ridiculous that Sony cannot mananage even basic Technical or customer service issues.

    Hello everyone :)

First of all, I must apologise for a mistake in last week's list. It seems I forgot to add Galaxy Fight to the list of games out last week (a Japanese PS1 import). I've virtually shot the person who didn't put the game up...

Anyway, to this week and shockingly, nothing will set you back less than £4 this week. Mainly because everything is either a mini or a PS1 game - or a delayed theme from last week. First off, we have Stick Man Rescue, a game about rescuing err Stick Men I suppose. The other mini is a new NeoGeo classic, P.O.W: Prisoners of War.

On the PS1 side, we have Pandemonium 2 but the undoubted highlight this week is Arc the Lad which is highlighted because it took a long time for the US version of the game to arrive on the store, meaning it's the FIRST U.S. PS1 import in the list.

To round things off, the Studio theme from last week arrives today and Laughing Jackal have discounted many of their minis, including the first of the Fighting Fantasy games and my personal favourite, Stellar Attack.

    Next Week
I might just give this bit up - no! Must. Stay. Strong...

    18th January 2012

    minis
    Stick Man Rescue - £2.49
    P.O.W.: Prisoners of War - £1.99

    PS1 games
    Pandemonium 2 - £3.99

    PS1 imports
    Arc the Lad 1 (U) - £3.99

    Themes
PSP DNA Static Theme by Craig Redman - £0.79

Whatever you chose you’re bound to have some of gaming’s finest moments, made even finer at a reduced price. Feel free to recommend your favourites in the comments below!

    1. Where is Andy?!
    A. He’s still alive. Still on the PSN Team. It’s not that easy to get rid of him, you know.

    2. Where’s Choplifter HD?
    A. Hopefully this will be out at some time in February.

    3. We’re still waiting on Trine 2 – where is it?!
    A. This will also hopefully see a February release.

    4. Why is Arc the Lad not available for Norway?
    A. This is currently being looked at and should be sorted very soon.
