As with about 90% of Judd Apatow's output, it's amusing in parts without ever being laugh-out-loud funny.
The couple turning 40 are supposed to be on the verge of financial ruin, but swan around in two cars, one a lexus and the other a top of the line BMW. They own a massive house and their young kids own all manner of tech gadgets. It's pretty hard to sympathise.
Regardless of the above, there are some nicely observed moments and fun supporting roles from John Lithgow and Marlin from Finding Nemo.
I didn't wish for my two hours back at the end, but would struggle to recommend it.
When you can't see the angles on the wall you're in trouble.
