Close Encounters of the Third Kind|
A man leaves his crazy wife and kids ("CRYBABY!" *slams door* "CRYBABY" *slams door*) for the cold reptilian embrace of some hydrogen-based lifeforms.
The film is full of comedy to the point where I don't know what Spielberg's intentions were. It's a bit like Kubrick's 2001, in that it deals with mankind's cosmic Awakening, but that's where the similarities end so I don't know where I was going with that comparison.
Anyway it's quite weird and disjointed, but it's funny and charming. Just don't watch the shitty 'special edition' where the aliens' faces are revealed. I remember seeing the "less is more" version 10 years ago and it was much more mysterious and less silly
Feels wrong to put a number on a piece of landmark cinema, but
