I think given the cost of producing a big game is up to 50 Million dollars and the cost at retail to the buyers is considerable it's understandable that hardcore gamers are so discerning. |
However when we say 'gamers' are spoiled and overly critical we're really taking about a tiny percentage. the majority of gamers know nothing about a game until it's on the shelf in Woolworths and buy it based on an advert they seen on telly or something they read in The Guardian. Look at the top ten every week the top slots are usually taken by movie tie in pap or shovelware spin offs of once great franchises.
