I don't know, the Juilus Caesar plot makes sense. Maybe I just need to reread that section again or I'm reading too much into certain things. There were just things that stood out in the description that seem to hint at magic and the murderers not having control of themselves.

The first is Malesandre immediately leaving the hall as soon as its read that Stannis is dead. Not much I know but her whereabouts is unknown during the incident and the giant incident seem to happen a short time after.

I seem to remember John Snow seeing smoke or mist before or during his murder. That didn't seem to fit with anything that was happening at the time.

Lastly his friends weeping and apologising to Jon as they were stabbing him. Sure he had completely broken his oath. But to murder him in the way they did would have to be out of sheer outrage. So why are they weeping and apologetic during the murder and not after. Surely he should have been seized and minimum thrown into a ice cell or more likely beheaded which is the traditional way of execution of path breakers.

Again it could just be me mis remembering the chapter or reading too much into it. Who knows it may all be trickery, or he may just be dead. I cannot wait for the next book though! [\spoiler]
