My wife and I were on holiday once in America, staying in a cabin, and we were casually warned that there was the tinniest chance of bears at night, but it was nothing to worry about.
One night there was some scratching at the side of our cabin and a bit of snorting and grunting. In the pitch black of night, and in a vulnerable state we very quickly became absolutely petrified (like, really quaking in fear scared), and totally convinced that we were going to be eaten by bears.
Irrational would have you act beyond being scared.
