Can't remember ages/years, but I am thirty seven now and this goes back a long way.
Phillips video pac. Could only go up/down or left/right. Big block base joystick with one button and  game cartridges that were such bastards to get in and out properly that they had a built in handle.
Next up was the spectrum 48k which my older brother still has. Favorite games were target renegade if doing two player and vampire if single player. Had a mate that had the 128k with the built in tape deck, flash git.
Up until my older brother got a job and bought a SNES we hung around our mates houses, one had NES and another had mega drive (road rash was da nutz) and we inherited an Amiga something or other when another mate moved to Canada.  Then when I finished (got the boot from) college I got a proper paid job  and treated me (and my brother seeing as we still lived with parents) an original play station. Then, big bruv got a ps one. I followed that up with ps2 and prob would have got the ps3 if I hadn't played dead rising on my mates xbox 360 so I am now on my second 360 which is the old style elite. I have tried to explain to my daughter how lucky she is and had to show her you, tube clips of old games etc for her to realise how we had it pre 360 which is her entry into the gaming world.
