My late father in law was a BBC producer - one of the top ones in light entertainment by the time he retired. He did make very good money, but well deserved. The time and effort put into making shows - especially the live shows he worked on - goes way beyond a normal working week. It's all consuming during production runs.
And you've got to remember this kind of position is a senior management role in any normal company. So why not get well paid? I certainly think the work of production members at the BBC should be well rewarded, certainly compared to the stupid sums paid to twats like Moyles who do very little of the actual work.
I've never earned much money. But if I hadn't wasted what I had on booze, videogames and guitars - I could have a nice mid-range Porsche by now instead of a Citroen family runabout.
