Again, this is my personal view, but I honestly don't really see the point in being committed to your partner for life unless you are going to have kids.

To be honest I don't completely have my heart in that sentiment now that I see it in isolation like that. My point is more that having children brings a huge amount of new benefits to a marriage, stuff that will mean you still have a strong and important relationship long after some of the other stuff goes.
