Yes, it looks a bit over-the-top but the peace of mind it provides is exceptional. Absolutely nothing will hurt my Vita when it's in the case. I've dropped it from chest height to a hard floor without even considering something could have happened to it.
It's fairly cheap and also holds 6 cartridges. Would definetely buy one again if I lost it.
