If you fancy claiming the souls of both of those lads (one now, one in NG+), then you should go for Orenstein's first, as he was a nightmare to fight in powered up form in NG+. It didn't help that he's also way quicker and you invariably end up attacking him first, so Smough has a better chance of living and being the soul you claim.
