To be honest this years show was a bit of a let down as most of the games worth playing were in the over 18 section. I attended with my son who is 16 and they would not let him in so I did not go in. I will seriously reconsider next year if its worth going or not as like I said there were about 2 games we wanted to see outside of the 18+. Regarding the law it is illegal to supply under 18s 18 cert games as Eurogamer is not supplying them it should not be against the law otherwise how could you show trailers to 18 films during the day.
Eurogamer *would* be breaking the law as for the short time your son is playing the game its at that exact time they are "supplying" it to him.
Ultimately comparing the playing of 18 rated games to watching a trailer of an 18 movie is not a fair comparison in the slightest, try going to a cinema, watch the trailers there, they always say "this is a 15 rated trailer for an 18 rated movie" therefore avoiding any "18" rated scenes in that trailer. Games cannot be treated in the same manner simply because you can't expect the publishers and developers to tone down the 18 rated demo so kids can play it, the movie publishers don't expect you to take your kids to watch 18 movies after seeing a 15 trailer because the movie is INTENDED for adults, so why would the games industry be any different??

This is EXACTLY whats ruined certain 18 rated games and games communities online, CoD is a PRIME example..parents allow their under 18 kids to play these games, and when the parents are out of ear/eyeshot we adults get called all sorts of stuff and teabagged left right and centre, its just not worth the hassle, so we grown up gamers tend to avoid those games like the plague. Plus a lot of 18 rated games contain sex/violence/gore/mature subject matter and SHOULD NOT be played by anyone under 18!! As a responsible parent you wouldn't let your under 18 child watch porn, so why would you let them play 18 rated games??

    Rant over.
