I can sync her temporary Android phone with Gmail, and I have, hence my being happy now.
I couldn't sync the old iPhone 4 with gmail thanks to the whole it being fucked thing.
Done now anyway. Wife is a happy bunny. Well... Not really. She fucking hates this Android phone with a passion.
