No one ever speaks about sound when comparing BR and DVD. You need a decent surround system to fully appreciate the difference between DVD and Blu-ray. A Blu-rays DTS Master HD versus a DVD's Dolby 5.1 is a much big difference on the whole than various different resolutions.
