Nah, I played a lot of different stuff to reach my conclusions including every indie game that came up during the last two Steam sales. Most indie games are pretty generic as well but they usually have a good daub of wacky paint slapped on them.
Indie devs are great at reskinning simple arcadey stuff and convincing people that they are playing something different.
