The UK prices are disappointing at the moment. I know the assumption is that prices will come down as retailers get more competive upto Christmas but who knows by how much. Also, the fact that they're starting off with the most they feel they can get away with at this moment is very disingenuous.

One thing's for certain, because of this strategy I'm too reluctant to place a pre-order - usually with a non-refundable deposit - in case i miss out on a better deal elsewhere. This means, should i see a competive price point between now and Christmas, it's essentially going to be an of the moment impulse buy.

What would I consider a fair price? I'd want the premium pack. Given that it's $350 in the US I would have thought, even after VAT and the weird UK premium they tend to add on, £250 would be appropriate. That's still not cheap as you can easily add another £100 for games and extra controllers.

Nintendo have been real dicks with this sort of thing lately. Remember the Wii and GCN releasing at a decent price?
